I got my NOVA interview (less than 24 hours after I posted my CV - creepy). Apparently NOVA do interviews a bit more regularly than AEON (every Monday, Wednesday and Friday plus some Saturdays and additional days outside of London).

Embarassed I'm wondering, what do you think should be my reply when they ask me if I've applied to other schools? Do I come clean and tell them they're my second choice because AEON rejected me? Or should I just tell them I've applied elsewhere but omit that I've already had a negative response?

Tell them Nova was your first choice. Never ever mention in an interview that someone else has turned you down.

If they ask you if you've applied to other schools you say:

I've done research into the language teaching market in Japan and it seemed to me that ____ school would be most suitable to me due to ___ and ____, and also _____. So, no I haven't since this company seems to meet all my desires.

Of more simply: No this was my first choice.

I think the main reason they ask that is to see if you are likely to accept their offer, that is to see if they have any competition. Since you were unfortunately not accpeted by AEON there can be no conflict there so I don't think you need to tell them. Good Luck!

I interviewed at Nova yesterday. I think it went pretty well, but I'm just trying to block it from my memory now while I bunker in for the agonising 1-3 week wait to see if I was successful. I'd done vast amounts of research and knew exactly what to expect down to the wording of each question, which made it quite surreal. It was pretty similar to the Aeon interview at the end of the day, just much quicker due to the smaller number of candidates (and the 3 word limit on responses to half the questions - that would have been tough if I hadn't planned them all beforehand!). So hopefully I'll be joining you both in Japan sometime in March. How are you two getting on? Do you know where you're heading yet PT? I told Nova I'd go anywhere - I'm hoping for a big city but knowing my luck I'll probably end up freezing to death in Kushiro.

is the two day interview normal? also was there a test?
If I apply i think i wont tell them i have japan experience. i heard it was a bad idea, but i do have a JET stamp in my passport. I'm guessing its ok?
The competition does seem hard? Is it that hard to get a job once in Japan with a years experience?
