Hi. I've searched much of the Westgate threads. I don't see the info I'm looking for.

Does anyone know if they hire married people to work at the same schools? Anyone done this or heard of it? We're interested in a short contract in Japan. We both have certificates & experience.

Thanks in advance.

I know that there were a few married couples in the last couple of terms at Westgate. I don't know if they were stationed at the same schools, but I suppose its possible. Most campuses have more than one position.

I do know that there were some issues with the apartments, as they are designed for single occupants, and you thus are forced to make do with very cramped quarters. I remember hearing of one situation where the apartment was furnished with a single bed, and was not really big enough to add a second or larger bed. I'm not sure how that was handled.

I think Westgate does try to accomodate as much as they can, so if you weren't at the same school, you would at least be posted to nearby campuses.

Of course, this is all just my humble opinion, and I'm not really in any situation to say one way or the other.

Yes, we have bachelors degrees. We are only thinking of staying for the shortest contract, 3 months-ish, so the small apt would be ok. Saves on rent too. Thanks for the info.

I worked with a married couple at the same university. They shared an apartment and saved a lot of money that way.

Just noticed that in the application for Westgate they mention that couples have a different housing arrangement than singles. So, I guess that means they do hire couples. Still wondering if anyone here has first-hand experience and can post or PM with details. Thanks again.

Perhaps I didn't make myself very clear above. The married couple who woked for Westgate at the same time as myself shared a Westgate (ie Leo Palace) apartment next door to mine. It was exactly the same as mine although obviously I had more space as I lived alone. They paid very slightly above the single person rate but nowhere near double. Hope that helps - you can pm if you like for any other questions you have.
Merry Xmas!
Julie
