I'll be arriving in Kaohsiung in early January.... Anyone got any suggestions on a good place to stay while I go job hunting, and the best way to get there from Kaohsiung airport?

I visited Kaoshiung about 6 months ago with my girlfriend and we stayed in one of the cheap business hotels near to the train station. Once you are there you can find about 4 or 5 in the vicinty. Bear in mind they are not all that great and some of them appeared a little sleazy but all seemed safe, reasonably priced around 700 - 1200 NT per night and would be a good place to start.

I can't remember the name of the one we stayed in. I will have to go dig deep for that for a business card. Basically, as you come out of the train station cross the street and head up the main thoroughfare into the centre. On the left side of the street near to where they are building the new MRT system was the hotel we stayed at. PM me if you want to know more and I will go and look for the card.
