At the moment I'm the third choice and yet the fourth as well (so long as it doesn't involve scraping by on about $1000 a month from combined part time ESL and retail employment that finds me house sharing with strangers for well over 50% of my earnings and living off Mr. Noodles- AGAIN). |

Born in Canada, raised in Canada, currently teaching in Canada
Motivations for coming here:
- information and idea sharing
- it's a place to vent to others in the same 'profession'
- sometimes I contemplate going overseas again and I like to check out postings from people teaching in other countries
- intelligent (sometimes) debates
- humorous (sometimes) threads |

I guess I'm still in NA, teaching in Mexico...but I'm not really interested in going back home to Canada unless for visits. I haven't really looked at the job market there except for my employer's plans to ship me north for seminars and courses. 2006 should prove interesting in this respect.
I read the NA forum just to keep abreast of the market north of the Rio Grande. One never knows what could happen. |

Born in Canada, raised in Canada, B.A from UVic, CELTA in Barcelona, currently on month 12 of 14 teaching in Italy, returning to Canada and starting the B.Ed in Secondary Language Arts Teaching at U of Calgary next September. I will need a summer job before I go back to university and I hope I can teach English in Victoria during that period. |

Im in Peru at the moment, but dreaming of returning to sunny California if I can get a halfway decent job. I thought I`d be heading back home after my time in Japan, but there just weren`t (and I imagine still aren`t) good jobs back there. So I may stay away a bit longer. (Sorry, mom!)

After living outside the US for 20+ years, I have returned. I didn't go back to the place I grew up though, but to Hawaii.
I check in on this forum every once in a while to see what people are talking about.
Best

PS--Oh, and I should say, I had a great time--did a lot, saw a lot, but I am so happy to be back! |

Sounds great, Sherri. I've been looking at jobs in Hawaii for when I finish my MA, and the market there seems extremely tight. Alaska looks a bit more promising, though. |

Yes, the market here is tight, especially on the neighbor islands. You would have a better chance on Oahu. The trouble is you have to have a lot of savings and be prepared to work part time until you can land a fulltime job. It is worth it though. I love living here.
