Hi Mary,
Having never met you, I doubt many people will recommend you to their employer.
The next couple of months (particularly February and March) is a good time to be looking for a job, although I think most employers who would interview you in this time, would also require you to start fairly soon, perhaps April. I think it's unlikely (of course, not impossible) that an employer would guarrantee you a job starting in 6 to 9 months time, unless it's NOVA or AEON or one of those, in which case you could interview in your home country. It might be a bit of a waste of a trip and waste of money, unless of course you just want a brief holiday in Japan to see if you like the place. |

Sorry Marry, I don't think anybody will take you up on your request.
First of all, nobody here knows you. Nobody here knows anything about your qualifications or even what kind of job you're looking for.
And secondly, people are not going to be so inclined to post the names of the schools where they work or the schools' contact information on the internet.
And third, people are a bit skittish about possibly introducing new competition for the jobs THEY currently have. What if you are more qualified for my job than I am and then my school suddenly "decides not to renew my contract?"
Amyway, since you're not in Japan at present, you don't have many options for coming here to work. Glenski has a good list of schools that hire from abroad, aside from the Big 4. After you come to Japan and work for a while, you can trade up. That's what most of us here did. |

Try the 'International Jobs' link right here on Dave's, or go to gaijinpot.com. There are new job listings every day. |

Just to add to Zzonk's post, no one is going to refer a perfect stranger to their workplace. Getting jobs here is about "paying your dues" and making contact with employers yourself to set up an interview. If you are in the US you have about 10 or 12 language schools you can choose from who recruit and interview teachers overseas. You will have to make the initial contacts yourself and arrange an interview and seek visa sponsorship. Most employers in Japan will not hire you simply by email though a couple of them do conduct phone interviews, though it's not a very reliable way of searching for new teachers IMO. I have recently learnt of several people hired sight unseen but they already had previous teaching experience. We dont know anything about your teaching background or qualifcations however.
Like anything you have to pay your dues and jump through the job hunting hoops like everyone else. No one gets a free ride here. For language schools that recruit and interview in the US you have not only the JET program (not a company but a government exchange program) but also these:
NOVA
http://www.teachinjapan.com
AEON
http://www.aeonet.com
ECC
Berlitz
Language House, Shikoku
Peppy Kids Club
Interac
http://www.interac.co.jp
GEOS
James English School (Tohoku)
www.jesjapan.com/
Employers here want you to have a valid visa, and preferably also physically present in Japan so you can start work. A work visa sponsored in the US will take about 3 months from time of interview till the time you are ready to fly to japan so if you want to be here in September i suggest you start looking in May or June for jobs. |
