Perhaps someone else has more info on that. I just used my American style resume. As long as it clearly shows your education and experience, I don't think format is a big issue - mainly because it will likely be read by numerous nationalities. I have always gone from the theory of making it easy for them to see those details - and assumed that few readers will get beyond a couple of pages past the cover letter.

Is that pretty much it? I guess there are a number of language schools I could apply to but I'm a little wary of this.
If I can't sort out any work at a Uni in the ME, I may as well look at working in Japan. The research I'm doing is showing me that Drama is used in some Uni's in Japan so there may be an opening somewhere. Also I'm getting the same sort feedback from friends based in Japan that my Quals may work better Japan.

Your list is pretty much the best of the lot, and the most difficult to get jobs with. Just a couple of corrections:

Sharjah University (not shajal colleges)
Abu Dhabi (not Abu Dharbi)

You may very well be a better fit in Japan, and definitely if the choice is one of the marginal colleges or language schools in the Gulf.

Well as wrote earlier, they can only say "no thanks". I'll let fate decide.
Quite by coincidence, I saw UAEU advertising for teachers in this mornings national paper(The Herald NZ).

Give UAEU a try... I just realized that we are in the General Middle East Forum, so there are some possibilities in other countries too. There is Sultan Qaboos University in Oman (lower pay, but fascinating country) or Qatar University. There are some new places in Qatar who don't have much of a track record yet, but worth watching for ads.

On another note...

If your background is drama, why not consider one of the international schools? Many offer drama and the jobs are often drama/English. Not all of the schools pay well, but the better ones pretty much match the university packages, at least in the UAE. PM me if you're interested in more details.
