Hi all,
busy making job applications and wondered whether anybody can give me some more info on Shenzhen College of International Education or Nanjing University of Finance and Economics.I'm doing my applications from the UK and having worked in China before I'm fully aware of some of the difficulties regarding contracts etc. so I'd like to be fully prepared before sending off my certificates and passport details to anyone.
Failing that I can always try to get VSO to place me in the Maldives!
And before all the oldies start whining about the question (after reading another thread), I'm not a newbie and have tried to search and will be extremely grateful for any info. people send me

bethan,
Can't comment on NUFE but it's part of a consortium of UFE's with Shanghai UFE at the top of the heap (rated the best finance uni in China)which is where I am. I've visited two other of the UFE's and found them to be excellent as is SUFE. My guess, then, is that NUFE should be ok.
As you know, Nanjing is beautiful but quite warm in the summer - - one of China's "furnaces." |

Thanks for the info.
I experienced Nanjing during the summer last year, just before the typhoon hit and it was absolutely boiling. |

Bear in mind that chances are pretty good you'll be posted to a suburban campus, as is true for the bulk (not all, but the bulk) of university jobs in Nanjing. This can be a bit of a drag if you expect to pop out of the campus and find youreself in the center of a vibrant city. |

Thanks for all the information but I think I'm probably going to go with Voluntary Service Overseas. I need a bit more experience and at least there'll be a bit of job security with them, plus my social security will be paid whilst I'm abroad.
