In China, it is always worth watching out for those crazy shop names.
The 'friendship stores' of yore are now no longer a joke - they have good brand-name products.

But yesterday, I walked past a supermarket in the newly rebuilt Lijiang of Yunnan (destroyed a few years ago by n earthquake).
The incredible name:
BELIEF SUPERMARKET.

Hi all,
there is a toilet paper called yumy or yumi paper in Turkey. I can't remember how its spelled now. I saved the store ad and sent it to my family in the US as an example of different shopping styles.

There is a potato chip kind-of-snack you can buy in any 7-11 in Taiwan called, "Lonely God". I don't know why that tickles me so.

Does anybody know if you can still find the imitation Taiwan Beer simply called "I Want Beer?" Cheap stuff with an irristible name. Confused

...I can't leave out the very controversial "Hei Ren" (black man in Chinese) toothpaste with the image of a very dark gentleman sporting a top hat, and of course, pearly whites.

And lastly, I remember a BBQ chicken joint in Tienmu a couple of years ago that had under the caption of its name "It's F*cking good!"

Has "Darkie" toothpaste changed its name? It still has the black man spokesperson?

ahhh the new English name is "Darlie"...there's still a ridiculous man in a top hat and tuxedo on the front...and the chinese name is still "hui ren" or "black man"

My Chinese girlfriend couldn't understand why I thought the toothpaste looked like the cheesiest piece of junk...she assured me it's a quality brand Wink

In China there's also a brand of cookies called "Digestibles"...hopefully it can promise more than that

In Mexico there is a brand of white bread called "Bimbo". I drank that Pocari Sweat drink in Korea and actually it is a little salty (sports drink). They also have a snack called Octopus Nuts that is peanut butter enclosed in a squid flavored corn snack, not very good.

In China and HK, until recently there was a brand of shower gel called Assnow. Now it's Ausnow.

There is men's underwear called Peter, and there is a kind of corn popcicle called "yumi bang bang," which sounds like a porn movie!

Here in China, they still do sell Darkie, which is now called Darlie in English. However, as someone mentioned, the Chinese still says "black man."

There's also a brand of Chinese toilet paper called Vinda. I didn't think anything of it, but my English friends laughed their butts off ("It's a Vinda loo roll!"). Oh, plus we also have Sincere toilet paper.

A brand of men's underwear in China is called PANSY.

Well, dancing around in a pair of those briefs would most certainly make one look like a pansy.

Shocked

I just found a washing powder here in Saudi Arabia. It is produced in Iran and is clearly not for the US market. If they want to sell it there, they would have to change the name : "BARF"

In Bolivia, I came across a chocolate candy bar called 'Choco Bum!'. In Peru, a tin of fish called 'Fanny'. I nearly bought both just for the wrappers/labels!
