|
|
I'm quite an Net surfer, but in April, I'll get cut off. I'm leaving my PC at the old job.
I've got a laptop, and I've been thinking about Net connection options...
Yahoo BB at home, or just using http://www.freespot.com/index.php and/or http://www.hotspot.ne.jp/en/index.html
Anybody have advice or input as to pros and cons about using hotspots? |

My next door neighbour has never paid for internet. His service drops out from time to time but he can listen to streaming radio and such. A couple USB cables and a home made antenna and he's away. I am at the moment doing this post wirelessly in some arndom hotspot and I am in the outer city fringe, no major buildings nearby.
I'd try the wireless until it became too erratic. |

Markle, that'S wild.
On the homepage for freespot, you'll see there is a map of Japan, each prefecture clickable. You'll likely find some of the hot spots you've been surfing from. |

Public wireless access to LANs with a computer and card that can handle 11mbps. |

Yeah We figure that my neihbour has been hitting the free hotspot at the Aichi Ring train station about 100m away. I also heard that the whole Sakae district in Nagoya is a big hotspot, never checked it out but I'm not surprised.
calmesim,
Aside from this recognised network there are simply a lot of wireless LAN networks that haven't been password protected. |
