Sweetsee are you planning to give birth in Japan then? Aren`t you terrified of the no pain relief deal?? I want to have kids soon but I think I must have a "giving birth" phobia or something.

Help!!!

That's right.
No pain, no gain.
We will be having a natural child birth at home this time with a midwife.
There is nothing more natural than a woman giving birth, fear not.

Theory-wise, about half the people who have a girl first have a boy second.
Name-wise, Boy's names definitely seem to be the toughies. We had no probs naming our daughter (again, secret because I don't want it catching on), but would have been hard pressed to find a similarly cool name for a son. According to your theory we may need to make the boy-name decision in the next couple of years Smile
Good luck with everything.

Congratulations Sweetsee!! Your due date happens to be on my birthday Very Happy I was thinking of some names and I like Shona, Keila or Maya for a girl and am not sure about boys names. Boys names are harder to pick, aren`t they? Maybe Kai or something with a modern twist.

Good luck!

Hey Tripper,

Thanks a million and that is so trippy because I absolutely love those names. Had a little girl student named Shona and I really like it, and Maya is so cool, too. And Kai is my neice's name.

I hear you on the boy names. I am trying to come up with a pairing of sounds that will be simple, cool and unusual. Hmmm...the hard thing is that I am sure that whatever I come up with my partner is going to over rule, unless it is really killer!

Power on,

I'm presently sporting my kids names in kanji on my arms. My wife is nisei so we tried to get names that would work for both worlds. We already have enough Gen's and Ken's in our family so we went with a Japanese middle name for our son...Chikara and and English name for his first as we now live in Canada. Our daughter we choose Miya. We use utsukushi for the Mi of course like every other girl in Japan. And for the ya we use the ya in yakyu. We used to live in a town that had that kanji in it's name. Yes I know a lot of people will read it Mino, but we don't care. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Asked my daughter what she wanted her brother's name to be and she nailed it: Melo.

How cool is that?
