|
|
Yes, I was in China, working for an agency that did nothing but lie and cheat the teachers. Unable to resolve certain issues with the office staff, I did a runner and left China. Now, I am considering returning to China - to a different province and hopefully a different kind of management. What are the pitfalls/problems that I will encounter returning after doing the midnight run? I would be very interested in hearing from anyone out there who has done the same and then returned. Thanks. |

You'll be detained at the airport on arrival and be required to pay the contract termination fee before being denied a Visa. |

I VERY seriously doubt this. |

I highly doubt anything will happen to you. My advice to you is to really do your homework before taking another teaching position. |

Matthew,
This "advice" from Mytime is a complete fabrication. I strongly doubt whether or not you will be detained at the airport on arrival and be required to pay the contract termination fee. A contract termination fee is a civil matter, not a government issue. I can only wonder where Mytime might have "acquired" such "advice".
If you are issued with a new visa for China, be it a tourist visa, a F visa, whatever, then you have been deemed eligible for entry into China. Upon re-entry into China, unless you are found to be carrying controlled substances or forbidden publications, it would be highly unlikely that you would be stopped. Does Mytime believe for a moment that you are the only foreigner in all of China that has done a midnight runner? Please...for every foreign teacher I know that has stayed a contract, I know 3 or 4 who have done a runner. It is the nature of the business.
What I would suggest, however, is that you secure yourself a position beforehand and have all of the papers processed ahead of time -- Z visa, resident permit, medical, etc., and that you arrive duly documented, if for no other reason than for a reason of reassurance of smooth entry.
Please PM with your stats and background and educational history. Perhaps I may be able to assist you or to put you in contact with someone who can help you.
In the meantime, if you have any further questions, you can also feel free to PM me.
All of the best,
Hunan Foreign Guy |
