I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but i'm wondering about any recent experiences passing through immigration with a one month single entry tourist visa (i'm american) . . . I'm planning on finding employment and getting sponsored to work legally after arrival , , ,
Also has anyone extended their tourist visa inside vietnam?
thanks for any info |

That is exactly how I and many others did it. There is no problem with a one way plane ticket and a 30 day visa, just tell the customs officer that you are a teacher and will be looking for work. Getting your visa can be done repeatedly without leaving the country too. The immigration office for visas is on the corner of Nguyen Du and Cach Mang Tang Tam in HCMC (116 Nguyen Du I think) or get it done through a tourist agent. Many have private connections that have visa services too. I'm not sure where to find the office in Hanoi, but maybe someone else can post the immigration office address if that is your destination.
If you contact gatewaylax.com and ask them for a quote you can find very reasonable plane tickets from the USA. I got mine for 500$ with all taxes included. Connected through Tokyo and Singapore, but a little break to stretch the legs was a good thing for such a long flight. |

I am in the same position here in Hanoi. If anyone can recommend a good agent or some tips on going to immigration on my own, It would be great.
Thanks! Take care,
