Has anyone ever successfully accessed funds from your Japanese bank account (I use Mizuho) while on holiday overseas...in North America or Europe? How did you arrange that? Does your Japanese bank have affiliate banks abroad?
Here is my situation: I'm headed to the States for two weeks around the time of Golden Week, which overlaps April and May. I receive my salary by direct deposit on the final day of each month. I'd like to be able to access some of those funds while outside of Japan, should I need or desire to at that time.
Or, if not, are you aware of some method of accessing funds while on holiday? |

Is your ATM card an international one with a PLUS or CIRRUS sign on the back. Probably not unless you asked for one. I was charged 1000yen for this card. But..I can use it anywhere. |

If you use Citibank in Japan and can get your funds moved to that account before going overseas, they have a card you can use in the U.S. |

I withdrew from my account at Tokyo Mitsubishi from the U.S. My ATM card has the plus logo on it. |
