I took the the TESOL at the Windsor branch of Windsor schools back in 2001 and found them to be very competent and professional. Their job search scheme after the course even netted me a well-paid (comparatively, of course Wink ) summer school position to get me started.

Don't know what staff changes have gone on in the last 5 years, but I was very happy with them.

How to "Choose a TEFL School" is a good place to start:

http://phuketdelight.com/TEFL.htm

Just be sure you get observed teaching practice (at least six hours) and a minimum of 100-120 classroom hours to meet what most people consider to be the "international standard" for a TEFL Cert. course.

The teaching practice is critical - for confidence - and skill development.

Windsor TEFL has been exposed as a crooked organisation, and had its licence to run Trinity TEFL certificate courses revoked last year. Its poroprietor, Paul Lowe, has dozens of CCJs issued against him for non-repayment of fees and general unethical financial practices, and will be facing a court in March 2009.

Look I'm all for exposing fraudulent EFL outfits, but it really isn't right that you're able to post this man's full name and make such accusations.

For all we know you could well just be settling a personal score, while safely retaining your anonymity.

This is one of the problems of Dave's forums.

For the record I have absolutely no knowledge of this outfit/individual.

CCJ's - County Court Judgements are not accusations but a matter of public record.

So why isn't it right to inform an interested group of people (us) about the man's past (recent past) history? Whether the person is settling an old score is irrelevant. It's not libel if the facts are true, and a person in the UK is always able to avail themselves of the libel laws, which most informed people reckon are contrary to adequate journalistic investigation.

Keep it up FFF!

Seems like it's good information to know. If it's public record then tell away
