The job market is actually worse now than it was then. Wages have actually decreased and government mandated labor insurance(labor and retirement fund) is being deducted from the vast majority of the local population salaries, thus we all got a 6% pay decrease last year. The labor and retirement fund is so badly organized and managed that it already being used as a form of vote buying and graft. Contrary to what the racist and ignorant occupational government states, we are part of the same economy and job market. Thus foreign worker salaries were adversely affected as well.
Banking has gone gone from bad to worse with the same occupational authority denying access to, then confiscating foreign nationals assets held in local banks.
Inflation continues to rise and the Taiwan economy continues to stagnate in the hands of a racist and blatantly corrupt occupational government under the soon to be impeached president, Chen Shui-bian.
Fortunately for most many of the neighboring economies if Thailand, Korea, China and the Philippines are picking up, offering opportunities for many of the disappointed here in Taiwan.
I spend half the year drinking cheap rum on the beaches of Thailand as the cold, wet Taiwan winters are no longer tolerable. It is now possible to make a decent living in the land of smiles.
Good luck!
A.

What, not only are wages going down, the weather's getting worse too?Where will it all end? Giant foot long c-ockroaches assigned to each foreign household as mandated by the corrupt government in occupation (which of course is becoming more corrupt by the day, whereas the governments of the countries in the following quote are complete angels).

Opportunities for what? An extended vacation?

So, cut out all the crap here and basically what Aristotle is saying is he comes to Taiwan for six months of the year to earn a sh1t load of money which he then takes to Thailand in order to lead a life of beach & beer.

If it's possible to earn a decent living in Thailand why come back to Taiwan?
