Okay. . . . so it appears as if one can get placement in the major cities. But - how does one afford to LIVE in those cities on a NOVA salary? Especially if you want your own flat.

Nova is having serious financial difficulties right now, I suggest that you seriously think about what you are getting into. Nova managers haven't been paid in three months and the company hasn't even seen the beginning of the shakai hoken issue yet.

McDonalds Japan was forced last year to make massive back payments on unpaid overtime at that made last year financial write off. This year it looks like it's Nova's turn and where Nova goes, the rest of the eikaiwa industry will follow.

i have heard from a friend in a bank that nova is in the pitts financially and has to borrow money, but this isn't abnormal for a Japanese company.
Anyway, any answer to the question? I also had one about recruitment centers: there's two in Japan. DO you have to go to the one where you want to live for an interview, or is the closest ok? It seems like they are never hiring in country when one needs a job.

What bank does your friend work for?

Remind me to never bank there.

Yes that statement seems a little ridiculous. I seriously doubt NOVA would even have any managers if they weren't paid for 3 months.
