Does anyone know what's happening to IH in Istanbul? When the previous IH (Levent and Suadiye) changed their franchise to EF English First I understood that they were still also holding on to the IH franchise as well.

Now English Fast seems to be recruiting through IH world. Is this incarnation of 'the Fast' as reputable as I heard it once was?

Where did you hear this? Ih was taken over by English First. But many moons ago the Fast was probably the best gig in town(31 would agree with me on this!!!!) and at one point( a decade and a bit ago) they were working with IH and indeed handing out CELTA certification. However, around 1998 it all went pear shaped for Nazif Ulgen(the owner of the Fast) and the last I heard he had opened up the first Kurdish language school in Turkey.
The return of Nazif bey Question Shocked

I can't comment on The Ih links but if you follow the Fast links the most recent dates are 1998.
I think those job ads are well out of date. In fact I think that be the ad I originally applied to and got accepted into the Fast family. Embarassed Cool Shocked Very Happy Confused Rolling Eyes (can't decide which smiley to use)

Actually, I checked the Fast site and their contract and they seem to be up to date-- they quote salaries in ytl:

Quote:
English Fast will:

1 Pay a Turkish Lira salary of 1.000 YTL for inexperienced teachers, 1.400 YTL for teachers who have experience more than a year, 1.800 YTL for teachers who have experience more than three years (English Fast considers one year experience as full-time work and at least 20 hours per week of instruction).
The above rates are net payments; any applicable taxes will be paid by English Fast.
Additionally 400 YTL will be paid monthly for accommodation expenses. No extra payment will be made for furniture, household goods, decoration, etc.

etc

I wasn't at Fast- I was at First. And actually, the Fast holidays are much nicer-- I only got a 9 month contract and one week off. Quite a shock to the system after 2 years in a kolej. I think Fast was offering a month off plus all national holidays.

Teachers have an option to choose staying in schools accommodation. In this case a furnished basic flat (below, you may find the explanation for a basic furnished flat) will be provided and the teacher will be responsible for paying any bill (except rent) and 50 YTL per month for the usage of furniture.

do they charge for the usage of course books?
