I would vote Express Publishing's ENTERPRISE. It's a nasty piece of work but very popular here in Turkey.

has to be Fono. I was handsomely paid to do the voice recordings for one of their books. I had to intone, slowly and seriously, such phrases as, 'Is it a blackboard or a picture? It IS a BLACKBOARD' , 'Is it a chair or a bicycle? It IS a BICYCLE', or my favourite, 'Is it a spoon or a fish? it IS a FISH'
took me ten takes to get that one out. Laughing

I was paid hansomely to do video recordings for them Embarassed Has anyone ever had to use ESP books- English for waiters, English for receptionists and who can forget English for security guards, etc. They suck. I've never used Berlitz books, but they don't look too motivating.

Of course a good workman doesn't blame his tools.

Headstart. Why? I totally resent the pictures: they're old-fashioned, plus, some of them freak me out (see page 19...)
It was the beginner level book of use at my old school in Istanbul, and gradually I created my own beginner course (with my own pictures!) and managed to get away from it.

Pathfinder. A page is like 4 present simple activities, then suddenly something with a bunch of prepositions they haven't seen yet + new vocab, but no heading or anything to set it apart. It's like it's designed to bust you for not preparing carefully... Embarassed

Watching a good movie 12 times is boring too but that doesn't make the film bad.

miserably ! having lost one game in 22. we've now lost 4 out of 5. it looks grim but im still optimistic about our play-off place at least.

re headway, for us here it does the job reasonably well. clearly, one needs to adapt, add, discard stuff as and when required but id rather having something like headway in my and the trainees' hands. anyway, each to their own, i guess
