Hey everyone! I'm going to be moving to Chiang Mai in mid April, and I was wondering if anybody can give me some advice about the city, hostels/hotels, good restaurants, decent areas to live (looking at paying around 4000 baht a month) and good international schools/universities to apply to for a teaching job. Very Happy thks!

mimi81, I don't live in Chiang Mai but I was there last week. You might want to stop by Chiangers "N" Bangers. The address is 70 Chaisripoom Road, Changmoi, Chiang Mai. It is owned by a Kiwi (Jack) who also lived in Miami. He would probably give you some advice if you stop by his resturant/bar. It is near the main drag in Chiang Mai.

Thanks for the links Cowboy! There were some on there that I haven't visited, and thanks for the advice (and giving me the exact address) about the Kiwi. Cheers!

This is the address of his bar. I think he may live above. Just stop in and you should be able to find him. He is a real talker but either he or his friend can tell you about Thailand. He has a few ex-pat friends that hang out at his bar.

Hey MIMI...again. I realize that you're trying to be proactive...but the Euro/Brit/N.am expat community is something like 20,000 souls Razz . all of the hotels have one of the several expat rags, loaded with everything from quilting bees to chili cook offs...but be careful, the expat world can be very jaded with an us vs. them attitude..... I don't want you to fret, CM is an awesome place where you will find plenty of folks to hang with quite easily. Don't be nervoose Embarassed , you're gonna love it! Laughing
