Hey! I was looking for some advice! I feel like I am being messed about by my potential employer (well it's a big chain so not surprised!) and I'm thinking if they're being like this now! What the foook are they gonna be like later on! So I have 700000Yen in savings, which I've saved for moving and setting up in Japan etc and I am wondering, would it be wise to just move on my own and look for a job once in Tokyo?(I have friends there!) Will it be easy finding work 'on the spot' even if it was for a NOVA school, just as long as I am in Tokyo I dnt care who I work for! Also, what would happen about my visa? Is it possible to get one from inside the country!? Or am I better off going with the agency and being placed in Gunma or Saitama?

I think you are in Shikoku now, right?

If you are already employed, you have a work visa, which is good until it expires no matter who is your employer. At that point, you need another employer to help you renew the visa. Pretty simple procedure.

I am coming in the summer, not in Japan already! I am in London, the agency does not know if It's coming or going,I am told one thing and then the other! Is it hard finding work on arrival? Is it reccomoended!?

Getting work on arrival is dependent upon your credentials and desire. If you have the credentials (University Degree) and will put in the leg work to find a position.

As for the Visa if you found someone to sponsor it you would have to fly out of the country (Korea is the popular choice)...

How has the company you were picked up by jerked you around? Are they going to sponsor your Visa and get you set up?

Hey, I have a degree in TESOL and a CELTA! They are messing me about as my bf lives in Shijunku and I will be living with him and shane have told me that my school will be located in a surronding region like Chiba etc and not in central Tokyo like they said at the interview! So do i take the job and travel to work everyday or come to Tokyo, move in with my bf and then look for work?

are there many employers in Tokyo that will sponser me for a visa and offer me a job on the spot? what would the visa process be like if I applied for it after finding an empolyer in Japan?

I thought of applying to NOVA as they have many branches in Tokyo, but they said they could not gaurentee I would be placed there and of I was they could not say in would be in central Tokyo, so surely if I just walked into a local branch near where i will be living they will more likely offer me work!!

NOVA don't hire in their branches. They don't always hire domestically either so you cannot be sure of getting employment with them if you come to Japan. If you turn up at the branch it is unlikely anyone there will be able to help you and you'll probably just be given a business card or contact details for some big cheese.

A couple of weeks ago, you couldn't decide between Taiwan, Hong Kong or Japan but now suddenly you have a boyfriend in Shinjuku and you want to live together!!!!!!!!!! How funny!!!!!

As to the job situation...

Now, how does that saying go... Something about a bird in Chiba being worth two in Tochigi.... or something like that.
