My wife and I are considering an offer to teach with Mediakids in Pibulwittaylai School (Lopburi Province). We are looking for any recent information regarding this orgainization and this specific placement. Our biggest concern is for our 5 year old son who will of course be coming with us should we choose to accept.

If anyone can share their insight good or bad, we ask that you spare us no details either through this forum or via MSN.

afraid I can't be too insightful, but I am currently living (though not for much longer) in lopburi, working at a school that sends a lot of students to pibun.

pibun teaches exclusively m 4-6 (years 10-12, so ages more or less 16-18 ). within that sphere, it is the best school in the province. it is quite large (I believe in the vicinity of 3000 students, but don't take my word for it) and set on a fairly nice campus very close to a number of tourist sites. although I don't know anyone that works there, the impression I have recieved is that they would like to have good quality foreign teachers, but don't know how to go about getting them and have gotten a fair few of the backpacker variety in the past - no idea what the state of the current crop is, nor what sort of thai management they have.

lopburi is a decent enough little place, though it comes down to a question of tastes. there are probably 20-30 foreign teachers living here, a few retirees, and then the mormons. it is also becoming increasingly popular with tourists as a short stopover, and (very slowly) there are beginning to be some facilities to accomodate them. most of the locals have very little english, but some of them are happy to try anyhow.

honestly have no idea what you would do with a 5 year old here...there may be one or two kindergartens in town that have "bilingual" (not sure what that entails at that level) programs.
