Boy Wonder, it's a shame you didn't take the job when you had the opportunity. People should stop black Listing Institutions based on one bad experience. The whole Center has changed and am glad I took the job.
I hope you realise that we are one of the highest paid for teaching here in Doha. You heard it first. |

Goodgirl says: People should stop black Listing Institutions based on one bad experience. The whole Center has changed and am glad I took the job.' unquote
We are not on about 'one bad experience' but quite a few...
So tell us more: How has the centre changed? Have they bought new materials? Employed a Head Of English? Bought materials for the CALL centre? Stopped the sackings? Stopped dictating how people live(if they can get visits from somebody of the opposite sex in their private flat because they say its Govt property and so not private-we are talking boyfriend/girlfriend here not a chinese takeaway) Have they started paying staff in full at the end of contracts(or when they are dismissed with no notice and the reason 'we are not happy')? Does the guy from Tunisia still run upstairs to tell ten ton Tessie the latest gossip? Do they still mix 3 levels together for no reason? Do Teachers still sit at desks in the corridor?
Share your positive approach-If the centre 'has changed' then let us know how.
PS How can you say the 'black Listing'(you are a native English speaker right?) is based on one bad experience and then say 'the centre has changed' so admitting that their have been problems and huge staff turnover despite the 'high pay'. and er there is no 'blacklist' just warnings of what to expect. |

A lot of what people say is valid but it is outdated. I don't agree with good girl when she says if people couldn't do their job. A lot of competent people experienced grief.
However things change and this year has been very good:
We don't work split shifts.
We are now sucessful.
We are not shoddy and we are not cowboys. It isn't perfect either as things never are but if you see a job advertised for here then I would seriously consider it now it is a much better option than before. |

To answer your questions slaqdog.
Yes all those things have changed apart from the Tunisian guy running upstairs! The interior has been redesigned and we have nice offices, classes are not mixed ability, we have HoD, no grief about housing, pay if fine and staff turnover so far this year is at 0%.
As I say nothing is perfect but it is altogether a pleasant place to work. |
