It appears that without a degree but with teaching experience China is the available option. That is fine, though I have some questions.

On a lark I sent an email (brief cover letter style) that gave my current working status (at the time working as a tech illustrator and teaching at a local community college), to an add in China for teachers. I got a very welcoming response (though she let me know it was for english teaching only). The place was in the far north east.

Can anyone give me there experience teaching up there? (Quick note: When I was young I worked labor and -8 degrees F with 45 F below wind chills. You know, frost on the beard and purple cheek weather. So cold is tolerable for me. I have also worked in 106 degree humid heat. You can always put on another layer of clothes, but you can only take off so much ). Laughing

Are there as many old temple and architectural sights in the north? Part of the allure for me is seeing a culture that is very different. So a high megapixel camera with 8x min zoom and tripod would be essential gear for me. Also I am a traditional artist. You can download pics from the web but that is no comparison to seeing things live and taking your own shots.

With a full time position, will I have time to see and photograph neat stuff and have time to paint?

What about the educational system. Is it cheap enough for me to finish getting an actual degree there, Or is pay good enough to do one of the western online U schools?

Food in the north: Given my druthers I would gladly feast on Thai food for the rest of my life, but spicy Chinese food is really, really close. What is the food like up in the north?

Finally I am somewhat of a hermit. I can socialize well enough when I need too, or genuinely want to. From a social stand point is a reasonable amount of privacy a social norm in China?
