To anyboby considering working for these son of a bitches - please review teacher's forum. I have been working for them ffor 7 months and I am still not complertely in procees with Civil ID in this gofd foresake desert. In this country, there are only 2 things to do: Make $$$ or Spend $$$!!!! If you're here for the $$$ your job should offer you 1000KD per month anything lower indicates a teacher/foreign slave. There are teachers who make as little as 400KD per monthy (Egyptian), however, you will see Indians, Egyptians making 20KD per month - no accomadtion provided. ABSOLOUTLEY DISTINGUSTING.
In reference to MOD, we have a an ego-manic who does not care about quality of the students and only cares about teachers hrs 6 AM - 1 pm (summer scedule).
So, do NOT TAKE THIS JOB if you do not want to get up at 4AM from now till Sept. The pay varies betewwn 400 - 700 KD depending on your skills. We generally run av\bout 2/3 bi=lingual Egypy\tiasns 1/3 Native speakers.
Egyptian's get sent on recuriting trips to their home counties. Westerner's DO NOT!!
Qualitas/EDU/Educational Holding Group haver changed their namjes to avoid LAWSUITS by teachers. Regardless they have met several of these lawsuits - this is an unreputable co: that comes under the guise of many names i.e. : SOS Recuiting; Qualitas; EDU; Educational Holding Group; American Counsulting;, Ministry of Defense _ MOD.
Simply put, if you are seriously considering a teaching job in Kuwait - consider only University positions - everything else is gov't controlled and they CAN HOLD YOUR PASSPORT AS LONG AS THEY PLEASE!!
I have not had my passport for 6 months!!Something NEW has been added; the company has a pay day of 25th of each month, however, they seem to feel that anytime in 10 days is close enough - when they are questioned about it by the teachers - their excuse it takes 6 days to tansfer $$ to the BANK - BS!!!The co., is prone yo make the same claim when asked WHY? It takes 7 months to in process teachers - Civil ID. (MOD EDIT)
THe MOD has installed cameras in both the the Lang. School and Computer Labs - the Military and or the Co., has a HUGE problem providing white board markers for the teachers and seem to be incapable of stopping students from CHEATING on tests i.e Tel Camermas this has prompted both cameras in every classroom and also teacher uniforms. Anywhere in the WORLD, when a teachers job is finished for the DAY - the TEACHER GOES HOME - NOT HERE - we must wait for the MOD to release us. It does not matter if our job is done by 9:30 AM the MOD will not release us until 1:15 PM (we have 4 hrs to DO NOTHING!!!).
DOn't WORK HERE - TRUST ME. |

One question, are you still working for Qualitas? If so why?
Aren't summer working hours 7am - 1pm at the MOD.
By the way there are lots of things to do in Kuwait beside make and spend money, I would agree, however, that a salary of around 1000Kd is the very least amount any self respecting teacher should be getting.
Forget the University, a Government institution, poorly paid.
It sounds as though it's time to leave if you are so dissatisfied with the job. |

Please define MOD for those of us who have no idea what you're talking about.
Also, which schools are part of "Qualitas/EDU/Educational Holding Group" |

I do understand this angry man! Not his fault though! The reality & if you do a deep research about the origin of the problem! I tell ya!
WORKING WITH THOSE NON-NATIVE SPEAKERS MAKE THE NATIVES LOOK LIKE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S ALL!
Egyptians, Sudanese and the list goes on could kill for their jobs! And this ain't B.S!
I love North East Asia chum (Koarea, Japan & Taiwan)! Those non-native who neither can't even pronounce words in English nor speak it CAN'T EVEN GET THROUGH THE CUSTOMS IN JAPAN OR KOREA. Believe me! Teaching English visas are reserved only to native speakers! And that is the reality of the game!
All English teachers in Korea & Japan are super happy! Money, good food, dating, getting laid anytime, travelling, working in non-hostile environments and the list goes on! In the Gulf, of course, those backstabbers, asskickers are treated better for a third of the money! *beep* it! |

First off, you might want to take a deep breath and go back in and edit your post. Obviously you were very upset when you posted it and much of it is confused and confusing. But we do get the general idea that everyone should avoid this place. Yours is not the first thread on here suggesting this.
Just for the record though, being required to stay in your office during certain hours is pretty much standard in all of the Gulf tertiary level jobs. (K-12 is even worse) Educational institutions there all seem to unable to realize that teaching is not like working in a factory or office or clothing store. The earliest I was ever able to escape was between 1-2:00 in the Gulf. Only at the American University in Cairo was there no one making sure that you were at your desk for official set hours. (perhaps Saudi is different in this as everything else?)

|

My advice for anyone even considering taking this position is
Run.. F****ing Run!
This is by far THE WORST company I have ever worked for (except maybe Berlitz in Saudi Arabia) Lets start with the staff shall we.
You are their little soldiers basically, you work on a Military base and trust me you will know it. When you first get there all is well and good, people seem friendly, but when you realize you are in a military confined area and have to go threw the chain of command just to greet, say good morning an official you realize how much it sucks.
First... Lets talk about the School.
The students are nice, (At lest to your face) but in reality they are sick spoiled brats, each equip with an attitude and their own nice little Range Rover and their Ferrari at home, and if thy don't like the way you breathe they will go to the Colol. about it. Again, like any other place in the Middle East they don't respect foreigners, Black, White, Muslim, Christian they hate you. There is a man that I am working with now that was actually pegged with eggs while walking down the street with his wife!!!
So, sorry got off topic. You have the chain of Command.
You have
1. Abu JaHilll The Egyptian Colo. You have to ask permission to speak to the Major.
2. Major "Something not important enough to remember" you have to speak to this guy to get permission to speak to Colol. Asshead
3. Finally Colol. Asshead
Who basically sits and drinks tea all day and brags about how great a flight engineer he was.
Anyhow, just yesterday I went to speak with Major Asshead, just to give him greetings, I had sat with him a few times and I thought he was a nice guy, but when I knocked on the door and interrupted his tea he was very forceful and told me to get the hell out of his office and go threw the chain of command because he was such a busy man and he had so much to do and how dare I break the chain of command!
Also, don't get sick while working here.
I was sick for 3 days, I had a note from the doctor signed and stamped giving me sick days and they still refused to pay me for it. Not only that I was also told they would not be renewing my contract due to the fact that I had not informed them that I would be out during the week, I also was told that I should have come into the office first and THEN asked permission to take the sick days... So don't get sick here unless you want to get fired and get your pay docked, and if you do get sick, please make sure to go to the office first and ask permission to be sick.
I called Abu JaHill the morning I got sick to inform him that I would not be coming in but in Kuwait if you call a person from your home phone to their Mobile Phone it cost them money. So, needless to say the cheap *beep* wouldnt pick up the phone, Later on he told me YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO CALL ME FROM A MOBILE PHONE which I would have very happily done if I had gotten paid on time, the say you get paid on the 25th which is outright lie, I finally received my pay about 10 days after that.
So, because Abu JaHill is a cheap *beep*, and would not answer his phone, and because I didnt have money to charge my mobile phone because my pay was late, and even AFTER I give them my excused absence form, I was still considered a no-show and fired. Sweet Justice.
There are some good things however here.
Kuwait is not a bad place if you dont mind endless miles of sand.
It is much better than Saudi Arabia.
The Girls at the Company, Sini and the others are beautiful people, very kind and helpful.
However, Noshad, is pretty much useless, he is so terrified of loosing his job because he is Indian that he will NEVER question authority in any form, so as far as getting things accomplished you can be assured that he will do each and every thing that will please and never question an authoritative decision, or take the initiative to get things accomplished in any other manner than the ones stated on the label.
Also, word around the campfire is that Abu Jahil is recruiting his buddies, you will see that most of the teaching staff are Egyptian, and each and every one of them are related in some way, Basically Abu JaHill got this position him and Colol. Asshead are good friends or something, so Abu JaHill convinced the Colol. That they need Ex. Militarily to teach the students, that they would be more effective than the natives because they were in the military before So basically he just hired all his ex militarily pals and family. So the word is they want to get rid of all the natives.
This may seem like I am exaggerating, but I swear to you I am not. This is how it is.
Have Fun |

Dude (ChinckenHawk)!
Whatever you mentioned in your last post, multiply it by 400, then square root it, and finally put it to power 25. The result: Qatar Petroleum and the new contractor. To support my equation, here is a simple example:
Non-natives make 2 to 3 times than natives, have decent contracts and on a top of that, they all hold Masters degrees in BACKSTABBING and PHD's in ASSKICKING! Believe it or not! The most qualified one I've talked to HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WANTED TO SAY AND I HAD TO REPEAT THE SAME THING 4 TIMES FOR GOD SAKE! A JOKE!
MISS TEACHING BIG TIME MAN & HERE AIN'T THE PLACE! |

I can't understand why you guys just don't quit if the position is so terrible. No one is holding a gun to your head! Nowhere else in Kuwait are you going to get a job where you're home at 2:00 in the afternoon. No papers to grade! No lesson to prep. The wages aren't great, but there is plenty of part-time work to be had in Kuwait and if you look. The job is what you make it. If you keep your head down, keep the students smiling, the job is a piece of piss!! |

Dude! ROCK ON! I am not trying to compare your insitution to Qatar Petroleum, but just for your information, Qatar Petroleum is not only RUN by unqualified Palestenian & Syrian mafias, but by the Sudanese one as well who have no idea about learning & teaching. On a top of all this, they are pulling 2 to 3 times more than any native speaker in terms of wages. Oh! According to the new contractor, they offer 9000 Qatari Riyal/A month with 0 (ZERO) benefits. If you get sick one day, they will deduct it from your salary regardless of your justification. Forgot to mention, they ask you teach June, July & August for the same salary under massive hot temperatures. Morons!
This place stinks dude! The funny thing is they sub-contracted Griffith University in Australia to provide them with teachers. What a joke?
I will never stop saying the truth about this place and they are aware of it since they placed spies in each corner! *beep* them! |

Thanks for the information about this company. It sounds like a company that should be avoided. |
