See you there!
A.

Why would any of us be afraid to say hi?

You are such a wonderful, supportive member of this forum! I'm sure everyone here would look forward to meeting such a positive, helpful and inspirational person!

You really have to wonder about the mental makeup of two people who seem to HATE the country they are living in.

What could possibly be your motivation for being in a place you are so miserable in?

Please enlighten us. The vast majority of foreigners I know in Taiwan really enjoy living here. There are issues, just like back home, of course.

I'm not saying, "If you don't like it, leave it".
But, I'm genuinely curious: Why stay in a place that you despise so much?

I second this as I would also like to know.

No one is saying that you have to suck up the bad things but to dwell on them seems pointless as you are only ruining your own chances of finding enjoyment here.

Aristotle and/or Miyazaki, I think that many of us would be interested in your answer to Sanchong's question.

I'm not. They can fluff about all they want. They are fools and I don't care a whit why.

You seem to be a bit confused. Spring Scream is a music festival. It is also one of the few places organized and promoted almost entirely by the immigrant population to celebrate our culture. Relax, have a beer and enjoy the music.

For the record.
Taiwan is not a country it is an occupied territory of the Republic of China. If you are going to live here you might as well be able to identify the type of society in which you live.
That is where your confusion comes from.
Taiwan is great place to live. The Republic of China on the other hand is a criminal gang of corrupt officials claiming to be a real nation based solely on the fact that they have oppressed the population into submission and have stolen such vast amounts of wealth that they think they can but whatever they want.
That may fly in an unchecked Confucius society but the world we live in is not an unchecked Confucius society.
Let me put it into context for you. Why didn't all the black people in South Africa leave during the decades of oppression under Apartheid. They did not because they loved South Africa, they just hated and resisted the oppressive government that had set itself up in South Africa through forced submission and oppression by a white only government. A racist and corrupt governemnt based solely on the fact that they had oppressed the population into submission and had stolen such vast amounts of wealth that they thought they could buy whatever they wanted.
The Apartheid government used almost identical tactics as the ROC to maintain control of South Africa, far longer than the ROC has controlled Taiwan. The ROC will fail the same as the Aprathteid government has failed. That is what criminal regimes do, eventually.
I love Taiwan but hate the ROC because they are a racist, corrupt occupational government of criminals.

The first step to freedom comes from dissent.
Good luck,
A.

"Aristotle" danced around that question but didn't answer it. We're still waiting from the stooge "Miyazaki."

To begin with, I do think that by responding to Aristotle's wild and fantastical analogy, I might in fact be giving some legitimacy to his craziness. I apologize for that.

However, just becuase he has a Computer and a modem, doesn't mean he should be able to post these inflammatory lies without rebuttal.

A few quick points, because I really don't want to waste too much of my time on this:

1) By even comparing Apartheid to Taiwan you are belittling all the actual suffering that black S. Africans had to go through for so many years. It is a faulty analogy from every perspective possible. Shame on you for that.

2) S. Africans couldn't just pick up and leave. You can. You aren't Taiwanese and I don't hear ANY Taiwanese people talking the way you do. They complain about the government just as we do back home. Overall, this government is effective in many ways towards providing it's people with a better life. Of course there are problems, but I have a lot of problems with the government in my home country, the US, also.

Aristotle, you are quite obviously some kind of frustrated, sad and depressed quasi-wannabe-revolutionary. You are, quite literally, making a fool of yourself on a daily basis in this forum.
Just tone down your baseless rhetoric and continue to post some of the informational stuff which, while also silly, you have the right to post.

By the way, please entertain us: What are your feelings on China? Are you satisfied with its government? Do you consider Taiwan to be a part of China? Enlighten us.

Awwww, come on kids! PLAY NICE!

How in the world did you guys let a nice little Spring Scream greeting degenerate into an Aristotle Slugfest? Rolling Eyes

But getting back to the topic, I might go but I'm not sure why. I don't drink! Incidentally, does anybody know if it's possible to rent a cabin or small house or party boat or whatever on such a short notice?

I wouldn't recommend sleeping on the beach this year. It rained last night and I was forced to sleep in the back of my car.

Were you forced into the back of your car by criminals. Gawd knows this island is full of them, right?

Aristotle, why can't you answer some of our very legitimate questions?

Your participation in this forum consists of posting completely outrageous posts and then refusing to offer any facts or evidence whatsoever.

Let's engage in a real, substantive debate about the accusations you have. After all, I think you would agree that intelligent discussion is the point of the forum.

So, please answer some of the questions we have and we'll talk about some of the evidence you have about all this supposed crime and corruption in Taiwan.

You've got a car? Did you have to steal it?

It truly is remarkable to read posts such as Aristotle's, that have such contempt for the country that allows him/her to stay here.

Do us all a favour Aristotle and stop tormenting us with your rot.
