As I have already pointed out there is no need to have a degree to take a CELTA. Read it for yourself at the Cambridge website:
Quote:
Am I eligible to apply?

Ideally you should:

have a standard of education equivalent to that required for entry into higher education
be aged 20 or over

http://www.cambridgeesol.org/teaching/celta.htm

Can you read that Paul? They turned you down because you are immature (something very clearly reflected in the posts you make here where you try to argue with people who are actually living in the country where you want to live and have been doing so since you were in primary school).

paulmanser wrote:
I take it your the sad guy who slags new ppl off eh? If you think that you need a CELTA ONLY to get the TEFL job and wont get accepted with anything else then your a average idiot.

Paul, when you came here we all tried to help you. We told you that it is better to wait a couple of years then do a cheaper and better course than it is to waste your parents' money now on a course which will help you less. You refuse to listen to us. You told us that we are wrong and that you know better than us. Nobody thought to slag you off until you started to act like a ****head. Now you have managed to unite the range of voices on this forum from Warren to me against you. That is pretty impressive. I never thought I'd agree with Warren but now I do: you are a waste of space Paul.

paulmanser wrote:
My guess is your the average american, over proud ponce earning 600 quid a month, please save it cos i'm not interested.

Wrong on the nationality. Wrong on the sexuality (but nice use of homosexual as an 'insult', looks like you are learning at least something about how to fit in here in Poland). Wrong on the earning. Paul I earned 600 quid last week. I worked my ass off doing it but I did it. The usual cash from teaching and another 1400 from other language work. I put in the 60 hour week (i'm just back from work now) and it paid off big time.

Im doing the TESOL course now before I finish universiy because i will be broke after university, so I wont have over 1000 handy now will I?

If you can't manage your money then that is your problem. If you want to be going to employers saying "I qualified three years ago and since then I've done no work in TEFL" then that is your problem. If you want every school boss in Poland to be thinking when they see your CV "Paul Manser? Isn't that the *beep* we've seen mouthing off about Poland for the last three years? No way I'm giving him a job." then that again is your problem. And believe me Paul, it will be a problem if you go on like this. I have already spoken to three school owners in Warsaw who know your name and know that giving you a job would be as wise as asking Ian Huntley to look after their kids.

paulmanser wrote:
No, I wont be at a disadvantge doing it 3 years roughly in advance, I would just need to brush up on TEFL.

"So for the first few months I employ him he'll be brushing up on his skills. He won't be as good as somebody who qualified last month." Sure Paul, no disadvantage there at all.

paulmanser wrote:
At the end of the day from WHAT I RESEARCHED from, not made up,

Oh, you researched it? Well done Paul! I'm sure that your research into TEFL in Poland is worth much more than the decade of experience that I have teaching EFL in Poland! Good work Paul!

paulmanser wrote:

Nice work Paul. You show us how in your world CELTA is from Oxofrd and Trinity is from Cambridge. Do you know anything at all about TEFL?

Anything?

Anything?

Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980?

Anyone?

N-O-O-thing Paul knows about TEFL?
(Excuse the use of Paul-type language there but it just doesn't scan if you say N-O-thing Paul knows about TEFL.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: The chance of Paul saying anything of any use or intelligence is pretty small. If you don't stop and look around every once in a while you could miss it.)

I have to say, that was a decisive commentary from Alex there, and I would like to suggest that this discussion be locked by the admin. Doesn't seem to be productive at all...

IMHO. Of course.

Khrst, for once I agree with you.

Alex, cant handle my money? Do you even know how much university costs nowadays? haha hint 15000 grand roughly, yes thats about 75 000 zloty for 3 years MAX.

no TESOL course from COT OR UK UNIVERSITY will do me less good. So what if I do it 2 or 3 years before hand. If I dont do it now and use that money for university I wont have 1000 handy for TESOL course after.

Alex, not bothered about how much you earn, happyness over paper. i.e why im going into TEFL.

As for the jokers in Warsaw, they shoudlnt be DOS if they go by pissed off guys on forums which reflects nothing from ability but angryness

wink.

I for one think you have had one too many cans so take a early night.

and yes, lock this message.

p.s khrst, I take back the *rat* comment, was meant to change it but net froze, you know how it is.

Only a small minority want CELTA only, the rest take what they can get. Demand is too high in asia and eastern Europe.

And yes I do respect decent advice from decent ppl, but not snobs or idiots like yourself Alex.

You giving my name is just out of revenge, grow up lol. or petty threat that will count for nil. Plus I wont be flying to Poland (or eurolines) to get a TEFL job except via online with whom I'll let you guess.

KHRST, I'll actually be in Poland in Borne Sulinowo from 3rd July till 10th Sept to Teach at English summer school for 8 weeks for disadvantge children.

Better to practice and help the poor needy kids than practice on paying students.

I was comparing celta to oxford university and cambridge with trinity university, e.g someone going to cambridge university isnt that much better than someone going to imperial univeristy (cot, imperial).

If you didnt understand that you shoudlnt be in TEFL.

Who is Warren?

If Warren is unbiased and doesnt bad mouth then by all means introduce him to me.

Do you know what this argument is actually about Alex. MY point was

YOU can get a TEFL job in Poland without a CELTA. Fair dues some may turn me away but MOST will say yes.

I have nothing else to say except calm down.

No, you can do a one-year PGCE after almost any degree if you want to be a teacher in the UK. Surely you should know that as you seem to be studying at a university mainly focussed on teacher training!?
