Hey folks,
I've made my decision on how to approach this Mexican adventure. I went from planning on doing this all on my own to deciding that I really do want social support and some structure in place to get my bearings. So last week I decided on doing some TEFL program, and this weekend I decided on ITTO in Guadalajara. Paid my depost and am in the early May course. Done and done.
So now I'm looking for housing for the month of May. ITTO offers accomodation, but as regular readers may know I've got a dog. Anyone know of May housing for a guy and his small, well-trained dog? If possible, I prefer that it's not far from ITTO.
Anyone?
And many, many, many thank yous to all of you out there who so generously offer guidance, advice, and feedback to anonymous, confused posters. I have particular people in mind. You know who you are! |

Would you like for someone to pick you up at the airport? Make sure you ask for A/C and hot water in your dwelling. Maybe someone can stock your house with food. Dont forget your anti-malaria pills. When you arrive you need to call home to let them know the voyage was successful. Thats all I can think of for now. One can never be too prepared. Reminds me of a quote, The man that thinks he can and the man that thinks he cant are both right. More to come! |

Now, now...
You have a very specific request regarding housing and your dog. Call ITTO and ask them to help. They should be able to. I think you would have a hard time on your own using the net to find such things.
If you find yourself absolutely stuck with no help, then try these guys at the Hostel Guadalajara Centro. They might be able to give you a private room at a good monthly price and accommodate your furry friend.

Thanks, Guy. I had already spoken to ITTO and have worked something out on a temporary basis for when I get there so that I can look for a more permanent place. That's what I'll end up doing. This is a shot in the dark to see if anyone's in Guadalajara and is looking to make some money on the side with a room/place available.
cwc, you must love me. You have responded to virtually all of my postings, sometimes multiple times. In other threads I've read, your name hardly appears as often. Don't be hurt that I didn't take you up on your job offer. jms. |

When you get your own stalker, Dave sends you a genuine Molex watch. Congrats! I have 4 now. |

JOTO EME ESE,
You were scheduled for an interview and backed out at the last minute. We offer jobs face-to-face at my school. We want to make sure the fit goes both ways. Thats to say, we like you AND you like us. Dont mistake a very detailed description of duties and responsibilities as a job offer. When someone gives you a start date and says, Youre hired, you can consider yourself hired. I bet you dont even make it to Christmas. Thats assuming you make it through ITTO. Your first job will pay 6K/mo. You wont soon forget the free beach apt. with fenced yard 300 meters from the school and 11K/mo. at Gipsy.
BTW, if theres no toilet seat and its noisy, reject it as a suitable place to live. Also, be as specific as you can in your requests. It shows a lack of flexibility that employers look for. More to come! |

Hey Foxandme, will you let us all know how it goes at ITTO? It's the current front-runner in my plan for ESL world domination, but I'm not headed there until September. I'd be curious to hear your opinions about their program. Thanks, and good luck with the pooch housing! |

Christ, mate. Give the bloke a chance. Personally, just based on this message alone I wouldn't accept a job from you if you offered to fly me down there in a goldplated Lear. Tosser. |

I've been using similar phrasing to mean I am dying to meet hot chicks who are into foreign guys!
