I believe that Teeny Tiny is the kindergarten branch of the Hess Organization. Do a search for Hess and you will find a lot of info.

Hess is a pretty good school overall. Not everyone likes them, but there are no major complaints and they have a pretty sturdy curriculum and training program.

The thing that you should be most concerned about is the fact that foreign teachers cannot legally teach kindergarten classes in Taiwan. Therefore any position that you would be offered through Teeny Tiny would most likely be an illegal job. Hess is a big company, and to my knowledge they have not had problems with teachers getting into trouble for teaching in their kindy program, but they are a private entity and therefore not immune to the authorities choosing to enforce the law.

It is your choice as to whether you teach kindy or not. Many teachers do and never have a problem, but if you want to ensure a trouble free run then I recommend that you consider teaching in the standard Hess program for elementary and junior high school kids as you will then be totally legal.

An extract from a web article by Teeny-Tiny:

Our Benefits
When you come to work with us we will provide you with
: a work permit
: an Alien Resident Card
: health insurance
: two weeks free accommodation
: help in finding your own place
: a training programme
: an easy to follow curriculum and the teaching materials
: a friendly and supportive staff
: guaranteed minimum working hours
: 6 month raises
: return rate bonuses, re-signing bonuses

Clark is right to question the legal status of the job they may offer you. I would therefore strongly suggest you ask Hess this very direct but important question: In the eyes of the government, is this a legal teaching position? Get a categorical YES or a NO.

Interesting that they don't offer a 'get out of jail free card' within their benefit package. You may need one!

Again and again we hear this, but I've always wondered about howcum nobody ever rounds up all the Big Noses and deports them? My guess is a lot of schools get around this law by calling themselves "educational organizations." Is this correct?

In my opinion the reason is quite simple. The law is the law, but the people who are expected to enforce the law don't agree with this particular one and therefore choose not to enforce it unless required to by way of receiving a complaint. This seems borne out by the fact that many preschool teachers have had the children of legislators, government officials, and police officials in the very classes and with the very teachers that are by law illegal.
