Hello All,
I posted in February right before I moved to Doha -my wife was transferred - been here 7 weeks now and I am almost used to the drivers....yikes! Despite it, we like Doha so far, and expect we will like it more when it's finished.
Anyhoo - I am looking into earning a teaching credential - and does anyone know if there are teaching credential programs offered by the colleges at Education City, or at least a reputable online teaching credential program? I have approximately 2 -3 years before the "oil barons" up and ship us off again, so I 'd like to earn a credential and maybe get some teaching experience here before we ship out. |

Do you have a BA? Have you looked into the CELTA? It would probably allow you to teach in language schools.
Personally I see little or no validity to an 'online' teaching certificate. If it doesn't provide actual classroom training with supervision, I certainly wouldn't recognize it as an employer.

Your best option in Qatar would be to get in touch with the British Council and find out when their next course is. |

Veiled - I have a BA and an MBA, and I have not looked into CELTA. What is it and where might I find out more?
As far as getting in touch with the British Council, I will do that, thanks. |

Do a search on CELTA. (webwide and on this board) This is the most widely accepted teaching certificate in the world. The British Council can probably point you in the right direction. This is not a cheap certificate, but it is practical and actually teaches you to teach.
With your MBA... do you have much experience working in business? Could you teach something like first course accounting or management courses? To be honest, the CELTA would even help you here... it gives you classroom skills that you can transfer to any kind of teaching. And... there is Business English that is popular in many countries.
