I can get travel insurance but that won't cover me for a year teaching abroad.
So can I take out a fairly comprehensive insurance policy which will provide cover for entire academic years abroad? Where can I get this and what is the likely cost?
I'll just add here that I'm British so will need to arrange this through a British insurer.
Thanks

I use KW Batten - and it is nowadays - only for UK citizens (I slipped in before the rule - or somehow!).
It is a great plan and reasonably priced. I have used the plan in five different countries and have made a number claims over an eight year history with them now - NEVER a problem.
They don't have a website but will e-mail details to you - the consultant who helps you is GREAT.
Info on the policy can be found here:
http://tefldaddy.com/Health_Medical_issues.htm
and their e-mail address is near the bottom of the page.
Some teaching jobs come with insurance - but it is usually bottom of the line stuff - and in some countries, close to useless - or means that you have to use "public health" facilities that you would NEVER want to use if you were seriously ill.
I like this policy too as it is portable - doesn't matter where you live - or where you are when you need it (a very few small exceptions).
I hope that helps. |
