I tried to get through up near Medan without paying fiscal... got turned back and had to pay 500rb. I was told that its only free from that port for residents of (or KITAS holders registered in) north sumatera.
BUT... In April I went through Batam and I did not see the fiscal counter - I was nearly late for the ferry to Singapore so I just went to customs, and I was not turned back - I didn't pay fiscal.
Apparently you also don't have to pay fiscal on an EPO anymore either. An EPO is the exit stamp you get when you close off a KITAS. So maybe fiscal is finally coming to an end???? we can only hope so. |
