Hello

Can any body tell me how one obtains a new visa for a new baby? I mean say I'm in the UK when the baby arrives how do I get a visa on its passport so it can enter KSA?

I was in the same position and I was told that you take the baby's birth cert etc. to the embassy and they will ''add the baby to the wife's visa.

When I got to the embassy no you need a new visa for the wife and baby.

I'm not 100% but I believe that in the UK a child must have its own passport.

If you think your case is complicated spare a thought for me, I'm a UK passport holder, my wife is Czech and my son was born in KSA.

He has a UK passport issued in Jeddah but both he and his brother are on the wife's Czech passort and therefore we only needed one visa (however the Saudi embassy in Prague needed a lot of persuading).

This saved me a few bob and it works out well here in KSA because I only have to purchase the one exit-entry visa instead of 3 saving me 400SAR.

Your kid will probably have to do a medical when he/she gets here (depending on your employer's policy.............mine insisted).

Try asking a 6month old baby to **** into a plastic cup to order and as for a blood sample, the screams of my two kids echoed through the clinic.

Anyroadup the KSA embassy and the UK passport office should put you right, better to get your info directly from them than here.

Need some advise from baby experts in KSA.

I might be going to KSA for work this August. Since I will be on family status, my wife will be joining me once I get my Iqamah done.
My question is:

1) Will my wife get the visa to join me if she is pregnant? (I understand that there is a pregnancy test in the medical)

Would the embassy insist that my wife deliver the baby in my home country before issuing the visa to join me....

....might have implications on family planning.

I'm sure there are lots of ex-pats out there who chose to have their children delivered outside Saudi and had to go through the process of adding there newborn to their 'iqama'. But, unfortunately none can be bothered to share that with us.

As for adding the newborn to mother's passport, for UK, I can confirm that by UK law, a newborn is supposed to have his/her own passport. I copy and paste something i found on the web, below:

Passports for children

With effect from 5 October 1998:

All children, including newborn babies, who are not already included on a valid British passport require their own valid passport for travel abroad.

children who were included on a passport BEFORE 5 October 1998:

Children who are already included on a valid passport may continue to travel with the passport holder until whichever of the following occurs first:

the child reaches the age of 16
the passport on which the child is included expires
the passport on which the child is included is replaced or an amendment to it requires the issue of a new passport

Children aged 16 or over must have their own individual passport, even if the child is due to have their 16th birthday while abroad.

Actually, I just checked my old Saudi visa medical form and, contrary to what I wrote in my post above, there is indeed a question regarding "Pregnancy (if applicable)". That said, even though I am a woman of 'childbearing age' I never had to do a pregnancy test. However, any doctor worth his salt will of course figure out that a woman is pregnant, so I suppose the point is moot.

Last time I was doing a Saudi medical, they didn't ask me anything about being pregnant. Confused

I thought they might as I very much looked it, but then it was discovered that it just an excess of life's finer offerings!! Laughing

Under the current system children born in Saudi Arabia MAY be eligible for citizenship at the age of 18. However granting of citizenship is not a right ! And citizens of course must be Muslims.

I have heard of cases where the children of Western nationals were asked at age 18 if they would like citizenship. I have never heard of anyoner accepting the offer.

Children of westerners that you mentioned who were offered Saudi citizenship because they were born in Saudi, were they Muslims or Non-Muslims?

Non-Muslim, but it was made clear that acceptance of the One True Faith, Salafi version, was a condition for getting citizenship
