True, many uneducated people use the word, but then so do many of the professors at my university (in fact, as well at two other unis I've attended). Granted, not in the classroom (where Standard English is used), but in casual situations/conversations.
"Y'all" is just local color. It's no more irritating than the way people from "Joisey" or "Baaasten" speak.
What do y'all think of that? |
