I'm from Cape Breton, and Newfoundland is part of Atlantic Canada not the Maritimes. Very Happy You're going to piss off a lot of Newfies that way.

Interesting that you have not encountered so many Maritimers. I worked at a university in Korea in 2003/4 and over half the ESL staff were from the Maritimes (mostly NB and NS). I might add that in Taiwan I met quite a few Maritimers. Six recent university graduates from my village in NB have headed off to Korea to work in hogwons. My mother read in the local newspaper that they had a UNB christmas party in Beijing last year with about 30 UNB graduates who were working in and around Beijing. However, I feel like I am the only Maritimer in Switzerland. Sad

Ya, if you want Maritimer's go to Korea. I know 10 people from my graduating class in high school that are there, and I met tons more. I think I know more Maritimer's in Korea now than I do in the Maritimes!

Maybe this says something about the economy in the Maritimes? Confused

Fresh air? What's that? I chew my oxygen thirty times before swallowing here in Istanbul.

Dear Gordon: Where'd you go ?

Flew into Halifax, rented a car for about 10 days and went all over NS, PEI and a bit of Nova Scotia. Very beautiful, loved Cape Breton and Peggy's Cove. Stayed in B&Bs every night and I gained about 10 lbs in all. Never consumed so much maple syrup in my life, best 10 lbs I ever gained. Laughing

Coming from BC, it felt like I was in another country (took long enough to get there too), but they had Tim Horton's and took Cdn dollars so must have been the same country.

Whitney Pier! no wonder you left! Very Happy Just kidding.

As for whether or not I'll ever go back. It would have to be a cold day in hell before I ever go back for more than a family visit. The best day of my life was the day I packed up my stuff and crossed the causeway, and I haven't looked back since. Pretty much the same goes for the day I left the country.
I like being a Canadian overseas more than I like being a Canadian in Canada, and there really isn't much I miss... Confused Honestly, I can't think of anything I miss except my grandparents.

Yes. HFX. When I first returned to NS I wanted to leave but now that I am leaving again I already know what I'll miss and have plans to return one day though not to HFX.

There's another regular poster on here from Cape Breton.

There were some Maritimers in Japan too though one of the main sources was a Tefl school that has shut down.

I assume you are talking about me. Very Happy Still waiting for a reply to my last email!

Ciamar a tha thu, William Wallace! My maternal grandfather spoke Gaelic once upon a time.

When I was in South Korea, there were tons of Maritimers. I think I met more people from the East coast than any other part of Canada when I was there, in fact. That was years ago, but I do know several people from NS who are in SK now, so I doubt much has changed!
