HI, my name is Bruce. My wife and I have been accepted for the PNET scheme for an August start. I am also having an interview for the NET scheme. We have both been teaching for 30 yars, most recently in Thailand.
Does anyone have any thoughts about NET versus PNET? It seems that choice of schools is very important. Does anyone have any tips on how we can make the right choice? What schools are "good" and what schools are "bad." Do we really get a choice?
Thankyou in anticipation,
Bruce. |

re the pnet and net scheme
Iam a current pnet that means Iam a primary net teacher and we are given 2 schools to work in. The nets are secondary teachers who work in one school. We are given schools there is no choice on our part the schools are told by the ed dept (or emb as ts now called) here is an applicant make a decision.
As we cant choose our schools our conditions are at the hands of our principals. each school is a differnet self running devolved entitiy unto itself. If you are given schools as net teachers then ask what banding the school is as the secondary schools are banded 1-3 1 is the best 3 is the remainder of students who cant get into band 2 and band 1 schools, hence the studenst levels are lower as is their self esteem and behaviuor.
be aware of the above info and find out everything before signing a contract, the schools like to give scant information and after signing the contract they have you . ps i enjoy hong kong love the plavce the kids are good the staff are fun but the amoral attitude of the department leaves a lot to be desired
all the best |
