None of those...
I'm going with Suntory World Select. It has (gasp) flavor. |

One of the few things I've come to miss being here is good beer. Especially brews from Britain, Belgium, and my native Pacific Northwest (Oregon/Washington). However, my tastes have adjusted, and I've grown very fond of ASAHI SUPER DRY.
Asahi is always my first choice, but when I can't get it, I like Suntory Malts or Orion. |

How can you even call this a poll without YEBISU? By far my favourite Japanese brew. |

I would also love to recommend KIRIN pale ale. I have yet to see it in the stores or supermarkets but there are a few pubs around where i live that serve it. Its not a black beer and not a pilsner, as far as i know its the only commercially brewed "brown" beer in Japan. Its really worth it, if you are ever in Sagamiono there is a little pub called ANGIE'S that serves up a 1000ml pint for onl 800 yen:) |

When the cheapest beer runs you 1000 Yen a six-pack, better switch to hard liquor. Yamaya often sells the hard stuff cheaper than you can get it in the States. |

Brooks, when you get to sagamiono head out the main exit and take the escalators to you left hand side. You will find yourself on the side of the station that is NOT busy. Take the escalators down and walk forward along the street the is just to your right. You will have the station building to your right and a couple shops to your left. Take your very first left and about midway down the block on your right hand side you will see a little white sign out front with Angies on it. Its a funky little place with some good pizzas and of course 800 yen for 1000ml beers:) |

I've had some excellent beer from Myokokogen in Niigata.
Another really good one is the new Sapporo wheat beer.

There are a few micro-breweries in the country who's beer is worth trying. In the Kansai area there is Minoo, which makes a nice brew. I also recommend Kirin Heartland beer as a beer with flavour. |

I would agree with soba on the Kirin Heartland, its a nice beer. If you havent already I would suggest checking out the bar of the same name (Heartland) in Roppongi Hills. Quite a nice place if you are looking to escape from the "riffraff" that usually attend places like Gaspanic and such. The beer is great and not too expensive considering the atmosphere which is quite nice. Be forewarned, if you take a date the cocktails are extremely expensive, im pretty sure thats where they make their money as there is no cover and the beer is reasonably well priced. |
