Griffith has advertised again on TEFL.COM looking for 20 ESL teachers (For Qatar Petroleum) for a peanut salary, no benefits & working under burning heat and NO BENEFITS!
You've been warned to stay away from this outfit because, if you take the job, you will hate yourself, your job and end up with a massive depression followed by a very possible early retirement (if you can afford it), otherwise QP experience wil be your worst teaching year in your life.
According to one folk, in 2 months, they have lost 4 native teachers and 2 others are on the way! It is a PERFECT PLACE for non-native speakers since 9000 QR/A month in their countries is basically a Minister's salary.
Go teach in Vietnam, Thailand, Poland, Turkey, China, Korea, Japan, India for less money BUT at least you will have a normal life better than taking QP job & once you accumulate more experience & better qualifications, move to the Gulf area with a normal contract NOT WITH A SICKENING ONE!
FROM THE HELL SAVER!
All the best! |

Gee Whiz! Horrible working conditions, a duplicitous contractor, obedience to the Palestinian and Sudanese mafia... all this and more! For $2500 a month! Where do I sign?
This sounds like just about every job I've ever held in the Gulf.
When are you people going to wake up and just take the place? I think I could get Dick Cheney's interest in the matter. |

Hey Lionbrian... how many threads do we need on the same topic?? We get it... you don't much like them... They offer a lousy package and have bad management.
By this point if anyone takes a position there, they can't blame this board for not telling them - and they probably deserve each other.

Does anyone who has posted on any of these three QP threads know if they hire women?
As it happens, there is an acqauintance of mine who is female, not from an English speaking country, and extremely well qualified.
She's married to an American who was hired overseas w/ the full package so the lack of benefits wouldn't pose a problem. |

After reading all these descriptions on the threads about the working conditions (ignoring salary & benefits) why would you want to recommend it for your friend's wife? Do you dislike her that much?
Hopefully there is something better there for a well-qualified non-native speaker. (as long as she has degree + cert as minimum) But that depends on her nationality I suppose...

Recommend QP to your acquaintance only if you don't care much about her. |

Also, recommend QP to those people (Non-natives) from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Romania (Eastern Block), Palestinians, Syrians, and other Arabs. This job is considered as an A* for those teachers according to the Sudanese people.
A very quick one: There is a Sudanese (No need to mention his/her name/English teacher) who is presently making 9000QR/A month with QP plus free housing, car and tickets. This teacher, among other 20 non-native teachers, use to make 3000 Saudi Riyals in the KSA! GO FIGURE OUT!
Do your maths & let me know! |

The QP thread has been locked. Quite a shame. This is a teacher's website and I feel a responsibility to warn other teachers about bad situations.
Locking a thread is as bad as being in the country we're discussing. As far as I could tell, no one was getting out of hand, it was only a spirited discussion.
Anyway, Rin, you got personal and that is probably why the thread got locked. You are obviously a Western woman and the saw-tooth edge to your personality is why many of us western men won't have anything to do with women like you. That might be one reason you are here in the ME - you can't get a date from a decent guy back home. You also probably wear an abaya because it covers extra weight well.
The point some of us are trying to make is that this place, for the little money QP is willing to share with its English teachers might not be enough to compensate for the existing conditions in this country.
Another teacher I talked to today is leaving after only having been here a month. |

Actually, you guys got personal when you started speaking in that thread. You were the ones who called Fillpinos the ugliest women in Asia and who made the issue about wearing an abaya and not being attractive. I don't see how attacking the women in Qatar and talking about how you can't get porn is helpful to anyone who is deciding to come here.
You work for Qp, obviously it sucks, but the rest of Qatar doesn't suck. For some of us out their working real jobs this place is great. Just because you can't get laid doesn't mean the rest of us are having a horrible time.
The fact that you even brought this into another forum is sad.
And why do people keep assuming I'm fat. Are only fat women allowed to have an opinion? Maybe I'm really skinny and pretty and just sick of meeting guys like you and lionbrian who look down on everything, have no career and are just looking for one night stands anyway. |

WELL DONE KERUX!
Have you noticed that Rin had a really bad year in Seoul, Korea as well as in Mexico? Just from this line & my own experience, I can draw her profile with no sweat!
A typical Canadian women, white, heavy set, from the Eastern part of Canada (Halifax) where jobs are VERY RARE, no sun, snows all the time, everybody knows everybody, lonely & desperate even for a date during the long & cold winters since most Canadians are interested in healthier and fit women, jobs are rare and taxes are high (35%).
Well now, she is here and she fits extremely well to a point she is very attracted to the abbaya thing! Kerux! How many good looking western women have you met in Doha? Or even decent looking ones? For me, NONE! And I am pretty sure that there are a bunch of them. Dude, all gone! Whats left? LEFT OVER! HA HA HA. Kerux! Do you want it?
To conclude may be she should CONVERT TO ISLAM since she looks REALLY SEXY ON ABBAYA! Jesus Christ! |

Actually I enjoyed my year in Korea and my time in Mexico, I just prefer here more, better job and more money I guess. Less being stares and being asked how much I cost.
And if we want to start getting into profiles, than I say you are both your typical male TEFL teachers, fat, 40 and single. When you find a good compling Asian girl who doesn't have an opinion than I will be the first to wish you the best on your wedding day. Cause God knows an educated women (who isn't desperatly trying to get out of her country) would never look twice at you. |

Your obviously one of those guys who thinks a women needs a man to be anything in this world. which is why you need your little wifey fauning over you. |

I usually don't like to butt in but , you two guys (Kerux and LionBrian) are starting to really irritate me.
There's something truly ungentlemanly about some of your comments to "Rin" ( who seems more than capable of defending Herself). If I were talking to you in person , I might be tempted to run both of you through with my extensive collection of collapsible pointers.
Where do you get off telling someone (whom you have never met) that she is not attractive? I find that really detestible. Shame on both of you.
OKAY!! QP IS NO GOOD TO WORK FOR -- WE GET THE MESSAGE!!
You seem to have stepped into the wrong country , and at the wrong time of your lives.
Maybe you should hightail it back to Japan. Get a job at Nova or Geos or a better place if you can. Spend your evenings at Gaspanic, or Motown in Roppongi. Attach "Charismaman" comics to the walls of your bathroom so that you can rehearse your view of the world while sitting on the toilet. Read "Player " magazine on regular basis. Scan the ads in Tokyo Classified or better yet , put one in yourself.
You might also be in the wrong website, and might find yourselves in more congenial company in www.bigdaikon.com or YD [Young Dude]'s Guide to Japan (google that, I forgot the URL)
Bon Voyage and Bon Chance!!
