I will be going to India and China beginning this July for a summer vacation. Does anyone know the Vaccine process in Japan? Is it done at the doctors? Has anyone else been to China and knows what vaccines. I have read several websites and discovered a whole list of Vaccines but do you really need ALL of them? For example, Yellow fever isnt really needed in China or India is it? Any advice would be grateful Smile Cheers.

Perhaps posting in the India and China forums would help you to learn which shots are needed.

I often travel in India and have been to China twice- this is the usual recommendation- make sure your tetanus and polio are up to date- tyou should have been given these as a child and be having tetanus boosters every 10 years as an adult.

Other than that, bare minimum is Hepatitis A and typhoid- a friend of mine came back from India with typhoid this year so the possibility is real. Unfortunately the typhoid vaccine is not available at ordinary Japanese hospitals and clinics- two that do it are the International Clinic and King Clinic in Tokyo.

Yellow fever is not necessary, nor is Japanese encephalitis. Sometimes rabies and Hepatitis B are mentioned, but you only need these if you will be travelling for several months and will be more at risk than the usual traveller- eg having a lot of contact with dogs or monkeys for rabies, and being exposed to other people's bodily fluids for Hepatitis B.

You need to go to a hospital or clinic and ask about what vaccines are available- I didn't check your location, but if you are in or near Tokyo I recommend the two I mentioned above.
