There was a thread on Oxford House a few months ago and their hiring practices.

I just tried to find it and couldn't. Which means either my search skills leave a lot to be desired or someone had it removed. If it's the latter, why? And whom did the request come from?

Anyway the Dude went for an interview earlier this year. For an experienced teacher, more than six years of teaching TESL, Iwas offered 1400 YTL for 34 hrs. a week. I thought the guy had lost his mind.

I wasn't too impressed that the fellow who called me (the Director, Manager or whom ever) expected me to just run over to his office at that moment.

It just gets worse and worse. Don't they tire of it all? Wouldn't it be easier and more profitable to pay decent salaries and get decent teachers? How can they go on year after year like this?

I believe her name is Liz.

She has left Interlang this month and is starting at Oxford House in Kadikoy.

I wonder why she bothers changing jobs.

I would hate to have to try to run a school when they are offering such apalling pay and conditions. They might as well fit a turnstile for the teachers as well as the students.

its very difficult to reverse high turn-over in any business. i think its similar to an opium addiction. once you get started it doesn't seem like there's any reason to quit.
