cross-posted this in the korean forum, but i brought a hefty was of cash in korean money. unfortunately, it was in check form (all big denominations come in that form) and got turned down at every bank i went to. do ANY of you expats from korea now living in thailand know of ANY place that can change korean checks (100,000 won kind) into baht? |

what u should have gotten was traveler's cheques
hopefully in us currency
i brought 1.5 million won in cash to thailand.... the exchange rate is insane.... they downgrade won by 25 percent, it makes no sense so i still have that cash lying around |

Not a wise move. Anyway, I would go to the Korean restaurant plaza on Sukhumvit by Asok and ask them what they think. |

What possesed you to bring those checks to Thailand? I assume you had them on you when you went to the airport. You should have exchanged them into traveler's checks. Your only choice is to visit the korean area and try to get it changed into baht, but expect a HEAVY discount if it is even possible. |

Hey that is cool, at least you are going back to Korea. I would just hold onto the won checks since they will be deeply discounted if you have to try to cash them. Cheaper to pay an Intl ATM fee. |
