Anybody got any books, magazines, newspapers, ANYTHING at all in Vietnamese? My wife is Vietnamese and an avid reader. The summer doldrums are about to hit, and neither of us finds entertainment in "shopping".

I used to find a few things at ACS before they closed. And I've never been able to get a straight answer from anyone at the Embassy about whatever happened to the books that were there. But even after scouring the libraries of the compounds that used to be "Westerners only", like Cordova, Eid, Al Hamra, Fal, Arizona, or what they now call Al Khozama, I can't find anything in Vietnamese.

Thank you for any help you can provide. I would be happy to pick them up from you, or wherever they are.

To help the time pass, how about helping her work on bringing her English reading skills up to the level that would greatly expand her choices?

I realize that this rather makes reading a chore, and it is so much more comforting to read in your first language, but just a thought... in case you can't find anything.

But... I'm sure you already thought of this idea. Finding enough reading material in English in the Gulf was difficult enough. Shocked
