Hey everyone!
I'm curious as to if anyone has had experience with the SIT TESOL in Oaxaca? I've narrowed it down to the CELTA in Playa del Carmen and this one.
Also, just out of curiosity, would you all choose Mexico or Costa Rica to live and work in??
Thanks, hope to hear from you!

I am doing the SIT in Chicago this summer with the hopes of moving to Guadalajara....All I have heard about SIT is that it has a great reputation and that its intensive.
I would do Oaxaca over Playa del Carmen because Playa del Carmen is super small and the cultural expereince wont be as rewarding in my opinion. Don't get me wrong I loved Playa del Carmen but thing Oaxaca would be better.
Costa Rica is killer but it depends what you want because San Jose was not that atttractive to me when I visited. However, you can travel all over the country by bus pretty cheap. I am in the same decision process and going for Guadalajara, Mexico.
Good Luck |

i almost took at SIT Tesol class here in Houston, Texas, at the University of St. Thomas, a couple of years ago, and then noticed that the "students" we would be teaching were going to be our class mates, each other
yikes! that was not what i was looking for; not being a teacher yet, i wanted to teach "real students"
this is the only SIT Tesol training course i've seen where that was the case but do check that out if it matters to ya'
cheers,

SIT does have a good reputation, the course in Oaxaca is brand-spanking new. I'd also check out who are the trainers, are they being brought in from somewhere else. I don't think Brian's comments about location are valid in this case because when you are on a training course of this type you have hardly any free time. If you want to arrive a week or two early or stay later, then yes, there is more to do and see in Oaxaca.
That is if its cleaned up by then, there is a well let's say incident going on as I write this. |
