I have been using the web site www.studyspanish.com to augment what I've been learning in the classroom. There's free material as well as 'premium services'. The Spanish grammar tutorial is great and helped clear up a few topics for me, i.e. the whole indirect object vs. direct object pronouns. Hope this helps!

As I started reading this topic, I was wondering why no one had given out web-sites where people can learn spanish.

I live in a small area of Canada, in what we call The County, I can barely see my neighbours house. The people around me don't even speak English, it's "County-speak." I would have better luck trying to learn spanish from a cow than finding someone who speaks Spanish.

The point I am making is that the only way I can learn Spanish out here is to teach myself. I too have been using www.studyspanish.com and have found the free material to be very helpful. Have you found any other useful internet sites that are free?

Here's a good resource on line that I've found very useful. I use it to tutor Spanish, it's simple, clear and has practice quizzes.

Check it out.

While the 'bedbuddy' method has shown good results, I have been contacted by a pensioner who prefers to, ahem, sleep alone.

She is on a limited income, but desperately needs instruction. Can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced residential intensive school, like say in Guatemala or someplace economical?

The basics really aren't an issue- she's been living in LA for almost a year now and can get by, but has no clue how to speak properly.

Advice is welcome, preferably with prices and contact info.
Thanks.

ps- I'm sure this would also be helpful for a new teacher with some 'means' who wanted to have an unfair advantage over newbies wandering down south...
