My 3 month visa expires soon and i have to do what is known as a 'border run', as i'm new here i'm not quite sure what this entails, so i'm looking for some help and advice from you Turkish veterans on this subject. What i'm looking for is the quickest, cheapest, least hassle method available ( i was thinking Greece). So any advice, suggestions and basically what I should do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I dont really want a short holiday, i want to stay somewhere for the shortest time possible. Is there a minimum amount of time i must stay?

Go to Marmaris and get some pills and powder from Erkan who works in the Sozzled Sausage restuarant on the promenade. Tell him you know Jamesie Cotter. He'll sort you out. Then get on a ferry to Rhodos but don't forget to hide the pills in an orafice before you go through customs. Should take 2 days or 2 weeks depending on the quality of the gear.

I once got a train to Alexdropolis(cant spell that), which is not far past the Greek border. Drank beers on train. Train stopped in Alexdropolis in front of some small hotels. Got a reasonably priced room. Walked by the sea, had Greek doner thingy, drank beers... came back next day. Easy as heck and me had a nice, relaxing night.

I did that one too- nice to eat the same foods under different names and alphabets Very Happy

However, the train ride back took about 12 very slow hours, as opposed to the 6 hour bus ride there (was going to take the bus back but discovered too late (upon arrival) that they don't have daily busses in winter...)

Bus leaves from 'Esemlergar'(?) every night around 6.30 and arrives in Sofia around 10 hours later. Next moring you can come back on the same bus. Costs around 100 Y.T.L

Or go to metro(the bus company) just off Taksim Square. The service leaves at around 1700 and you just jump off at the Bulgarian border, wait for the next bus going to Istanbul-most of them- and you get back at around 5 in the morning. a long 12 hours but if you need to be at work in the morning you can make it.

YOu can get the Metro in the morning from Taksim to Plovdiv. Costs 25-30 YTL In Plovdiv you can got to main square, visit the bar and Grill have some bacon wrapped in Chicken livers, have a voska, get back on the bus at 9 o'clock, be back in Ustabul by 5.
