Banana Splits was definately the 70s!
I liked the Smurfs.
Is it much farther now Papa Smurf?
I also liked the WonderTwins from the Justice League. It must have been a premonition. |

i'm going to threadjack and ask you all what your favorite saturday morning cartoon theme song was in the 80s. mine was the Gummi Bears.
Leap Frogs had a pretty good one too.
edit: if you were an adult before cartoons had their own theme songs, you can just put in your favorite sitcom theme song. don't be ashemed if it's this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzdnFAq88SM |
Cartoons have their own theme songs?
In the 1980s I was in my 30s and early 40s. Not really into Saturday morning cartoons then or now.
We didn't even have a TV until I was 8 years old. The only sitcoms I can remember from back then were "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners." |

In Cuba I saw some of the very first Popeyes, where he ALWAYS mutters to himself, and something that resembled the first Mickey Mouse, where he is a steamboat captain.
Mighty Mouse sniffed a white powder that gave him strength in a few episodes, strange but true. Saw it with my own eyes and my media class discussed it.
The Tele-tubbies scare me. |

| okay people, let's stick to theme songs! you'd think a bunch of teachers could follow simple directions. if you don't have a favorite 80s cartoon theme song you have to pick a sitcom. |

I'm Mighty Mouse, I'm on my way
I'm Mighty Mouse, to save the day
white powder? no lie?
i was way too young to know about that in the 50s, unless it was baby/ talcum powder -- i have a younger brother born in 1952 whose diapers needed changing
*********** ************** *************
here's something rare -- two t.v. shows that were on in the 50s in black and white -- in the SF/Bay area -- i've never met anyone else [except in our area] that ever saw these: (1) Captain Midnight -- combo of sci fi and space, very cool show, scared the ______ out of me, and at Christmas time (2) a puppet show with a puppet called Happy Holly, really a fun show
************* **************** **************
AND, let's not forget "Sky King" -- a private pilot who helped the local police catch the bad guys, always taking off in his plane
****************** ***************** ************
i know, i know, Matt, i'm breaking the rules! would not be the first time!!! muuuuaaaaa hhhhhhaaaaaaaa hhhhhhaaaaa
Queenie's Very Evil Twin strikes!!!

It's Howdy Doody time!
Buffalo Bob.
Captain Kangaroo.
Being old enough to remember Sky King -- which may say something about my ability to remember things accurately; no offense intended, snorklequeen -- didn't the Lone Ranger (good theme song) and his faithful Indian companion Tanto (Tonto?) fit into that same era somewhere? Roy Rogers and Dale Evans? Dragnet? The Ed Sullivan Show?
Sorry, Matt, but cartoons and sitcoms didn't compose the bulk of TV programs for kids to watch back when I was a kid. Back then, TV was considered mostly family entertainment. Only one TV set (B&W with a round screen) for the whole family to watch together.
I had a big crush on Annette Funicello.
(em eye see, kay ee why, em oh you ess ee)
Nostalgically yours,

I almost started crying at the thought of the Mousketeers. Man, we're getting old.
The Three Stooges and Gilligan were good with a PB&J in the afternoon.
My dad never missed Dragnet. "Just the facts, ma'm" |
