Speaking of ads. don't you reckon the new Akbank ads are pretty cool-the world cup ones. Much better than Barry's ads- no offence meant to barry.

No, l haven't. What's it like? I did recently walk past a big poster ad advertising a new housing complex. The family in the picture looked like it had just arrived from Holland.

I like the guitar best, especially when it "dances"!

I find the whole thing a bit weird really. I think l might extend this whole prejudice thing a bit further.......Have you guys noticed that most of the tv ads relating to the Turkish family or children mostly use actors who look very arian or at least have light skin and blue eyes. I find it rather disturbing really.....it's a bit like Michael Jackson's bleaching his skin white.

Right- except for the one black family (Yataş ads, etc) and the Japanese guy (Akbank, Vestel)... seems that anyone who looks obviously not "Turkish" yet speaks fluently can get as many advert jobs as they want! Embarassed

lt seems quite popular at the moment to knock off the Japanese and South Koreans. One was found floating in the Mamara and another two are missing. A bit of a worry if you ask me.

My suggestion to anyone asked to change their namer would be to go along with it. But at the same time Anglosize(?) everybody elses name too. We all know how much students hate it when you get their name wrong, so they'd be bound to complain sooner or later. When they do, the truth will out.

Anglicize/Anglicise.
'Anglosize' is presumably a clothes size measurement for English people, i.e. in Turkish terms, 'fat'.

Anglosize could also be a term used by Turks to refer to a Western knob.
