Missing a brother-in arms! A dedicated teacher. Sometimes cynical, but probably never undeservedly so. Between the lines of his posts there was something humane, humorous.

it's unfortunate that he died so young. it's also unfortunate that his posts were often inflammatory, insulting, aggressive, etc, and that i can't say i will miss them. i'm sure he was nicer in person.

If by " inflammatory, insulting, aggressive" you mean calling a spade a spade, then Bruce was guilty as charged. In any case, it's worth remembering that he took as much as he gave. And yes, he was a nice guy in person....

I, too, miss his presence here. He didn't flame for the sake of flaming--he always had a very good point (or counter-point) to make.

sorry--you know what? his posts weren't so bad after all. i think i confused him with scot47, since they occassionally tag-teamed. bnix was definitely the more civil of the two.

Dear scot47,
Um, perhaps he meant civil - as in civil war. But good heavens, if " Telling @rseholes the way life is " is your mission, I fear you may have another full-time job on your hands.
Regards,
John
P.S. And, in a rare moment of becoming humility, may I add that few, if any, among us have not had, at the very least, our @rsehole moments.

Dear biffinbridge,
Would this be the one?

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered ( from Pal Joey - Rodgers and Hart )

After one whole quart of brandy
Like a daisy I awake
With no Bromo Seltzer handy,
I don't even shake.

Girls are not a new sensation;
I've done pretty well, I think.
But this half-pint imitation
Put me on the blink

REFRAIN

I'm wild again
Beguiled again
A simpering, whimpering child again
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I

Couldn't sleep
And wouldn't sleep
Until I could sleep where I shouldn't sleep
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I

Lost my heart but what of it?
My mistake I agree.
she's a laugh, but I like it
because the laugh's on me.

A pill she is
But still she is
All mine and I'll keep her until she is
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered
Like me.

Seen a lot
I mean I lot
But now I'm like sweet seventeen a lot
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I

I'll sing to her
Each spring to her
And worship the dresses that cling to her
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I

When she talks she is seeking
Words to get off her chest.
Horizontally speaking
She's at her very best.

Vexed again
Perplexed again
Thank God I can't be over-sexed again
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered am I

Wise at last
My eyes at last
Are cutting you down to your size at last
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered no more

Burned a lot
But learned a lot
And now you are broke, though you earned a lot
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered no more

Couldn't eat
Was dyspeptic
Life was so hard to bear;
Now my heart's antiseptic
Since you moved out of there

Romance-Finis
Your chance-finis
Those ants that invaded my pants-finis
Bewitched, bothered and bewildered no more.

Regards,
John
