How sweet it is! Laughing He cries so much, it never gets old.

I loved reading this..

Quote:
Ronaldo's first touch in the opening seconds was greeted with a shattering and genuinely shocking chorus of jeers from all parts of a 66,000 capacity crowd.

England supporters in possession of tickets, having hoped to watch their own team in the semi-final, were presumably the prime movers, but the sound spread like a Mexican wave around the stadium.

This was not just English fans turning on Ronaldo - France fans happily joined in, and many other nations represented could also have played their part.

It was a remarkable event, not just because it appeared to have given England and France rare sporting unity in their contempt for Ronaldo.

He brought it upon himself.

Anyways, Italy vs France huh? As a neutral, I want to see a 3-3 draw and then penalties!

Yes, it's a sad, sad day. Crying or Very sad I really was cheering for France... BTW, what Zidanne did was inexcusable -- obviously someone really got his goat, but still, he shouldn't have lost his cool like that. It was a rotten way to end a career.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that I really hoped for France to win, I'm OK with the fact that Italy won -- the Italy I saw this tournament played like a completely different country. They were not whining, complaining, crying and otherwise acting like bratty little kids -- which is a new trick for them. But it worked. They played a clean game and a clean tournament, which to me, is almost as important as seeing my favourite team win.

I must say I was laughing when it went to penners because I had been telling all my friends that I didnt care about the final I just wanted to see penalties.

Disappointing way to end a career for Zidane, it's sad to think that he may be remembered more for that one moment of lunacy than for all the rest of his great career.

And it was sweet justice that Trezeguet missed a penalty, he was the one that completed France's thievery of Euro 2000 against Italy.

It all evens out in the end boys.

This has been a good fun World Cup for me, with my country playing for the first time in 32 years and showing the world we can play at this level, also the experience of another heartbreak on penalties for the beloved Three Lions, lots of good goals and controversy and an exciting final.

I still think France 98 was more thrilling, but this definately stomped all over Japan/South Korea 2002.

I am looking forward to Euro 2008 and then World Cup 2010!

I still think what the other player said is rude, and he should be fined. Still, it doesn't excuse Zidane's headbutt.

As to Italian play, all I can think of is some nice passes and some exuberent diving Laughing (doesn't that usually involve a pool?)!

And you know what he said? Rolling Eyes Zidane has showed a pattern of violence and stupidness throughout his career. He picked the biggest sporting event to show how to end a career stupidly.

Yes, but this whole trash talking bit that athletes employ is getting very old. True, Zidane didn't look smooth head butting the guy, but did you notice how quickly he fell down? Laughing

Practice makes perfect! Rolling Eyes

Didn't realize that the feigning of injury was such a big part of World Cup soccer.

I think Materazzi went down in 3 parts shock and 1 part theatre. I know I would be shocked if someone walked up to me and smacked his head into me.
