|
|
Hello All-
We're not entirely familiar w/teaching in countries other than Vietnam, where we are currently working. We are very interested in venturing to Turkey and have been doing research about it. One thing I have not found any information about is part time work -- is this possible in Turkey? Or do you have to sign a one year contract and work full time hours?
Also, along this same thread, I've seen average salaries mentioned by people between 1500 and 2000 lira per month. My question is: how much does that work out to as an hourly wage? This of course becomes important if the answer to my first question is yes....
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated -- thanks much! |

Okay, good to know... which brings us back to the question: how much do you make hourly in Turkey? I'm sure it varies, but give me a reasonable range to work w/.
Next question, if we were to work full-time, on average, how many hours a week is that? |

An hourly rate is between 20-35 YTL. Privates, depending on who you know, can pay alot more.
A full time position will be be between 20-30 hours of classroom time. |

I'm not planning on coming to Turkey to slack off. Quite the opposite. In Vietnam, you can be a part-time teacher, but teach full-time hours w/o signing a year long contract -- it's nice to have that ability in the event you don't like the school you sign on w/, which is why I was asking about it.
So one cannot legally work in Turkey part-time? A school will not sponsor your visa if you don't sign a full-time contract w/them? |

| Many of the schools will sponsor your visa regardless of what you sign. |
