But the hottest chicks by far restrict themselves to Japanese guys. Perhaps it's fear of the unfamiliar, some perception of foreigners as undesirable, preference for their own race, the feeling that if they're being chased by dozens of hot Japanese guys then why do they need to chase a foreigner, or - and this is my view - that they prefer someone who they can communicate with (i.e. speaks Japanese fluently), which rules out many foreigners.

To be fair, a lot of the girls I see with foreigners are pretty fine, but the hottest of the hot are always with Japanese guys.

My first gf in Japan was 8 years older than me and very cute, the second one was truly a hottie (I got lucky, I think) and only 2 months older than me, though she turned out to be a cheater. The third - a serious one - was 10 years older than me, and yes, aggressive. At that time I was going through a dry spell and was feeling bad about things. My genkiness had faded for everyone to see, I guess, and I was low in confidence. She looked much younger than her age (mid-30s). I had her figured for 27. We lasted for 11 months and, despite the problems we had, I will say she was the best sex I've ever had. By a mile.

If we're generalizing everything, I'd like to jump into the conversation.

"Hot" by Japanese standards is "looks 12 years old and is, basically, skin covering an animated skeleton". That about covers it.

I don't like to be able to count the ribs on a woman's rib cage, or fear crushing her and having one of her own ribs pierce her lung just from a simple hug.

I don't know what "western standard" is, and I don't know if I am a "standard guy", but my ideal woman is Natalie Portman - Not exactly a cow, but not starving either.

And to make things clear, I've dated both foreigners living in Japan (Australian, American) and Japanese nationals. I ended up marrying a Korean who was also studying in Japan, the reason being we clicked. She's beautiful, smart, and friendly. I can't stand brand-name wielding ヤリマン.

Often the hottest women are 18 to 22. Well going by the Miss Universe winners anyway.
Foreign men here are often much older than that. Therefore it seems obvious to me that the women that the foreigner dates is going to be not as hot as the best of Japan can offer due to the age distibution of both sets.

PLUS the golden rule of life. STUNNING WOMEN DONT HAVE TO TRY. They aint at home studying English on a Saturday night. They are out on dates. 99% of the time they are never going to chase the guy, why should they? So if Johhny Gaijin cant charm her off her stillettos with damn good Japanese he aint going to be getting the honey.

Building confidence when it comes to dating is often like climbing a ladder. You have to step on the bottom rungs. The foreign guy you see with a less-than-stunning Japanese girl this week may be with one of the true "hot chicks" next week.
Anyway, it's all subjective. Who cares? I like what I've got going; I hope you like what you've got going. If you don't, step on the next rung.

Ugly is too harsh. No guy thinks his wife is ugly. I think it's all about types. I am married to a J guy and he says J women with foreign/western men are not the Japanese "type".[/img]

Skinny is often quite the norm here for Japanese guys. Take a look at the girls in the Yamanote line's beauty house ad. These girls are cute, but if you are looking for something beyond a Japanese A -cup, forget it Cool

And just remember, by Japanese standards Mariah Carey is fat (but oo la la in my book)!

Like one of my friends said, after gaining confidence in Japan you'll have no trouble when you get back home, that it was all about confidence in the first place, confidence you didn't have. Saying that, I find Japanese girls much, much pretty than your average foreign girl. That's not to say ALL of them, please understand, just in general thats how I feel. And I think the Japanese are way more stylish too, even the so called 'plain' ones. I'll openly admit that my girlfriend is way more beautiful than I could probably get back home, even if she is a pain in the ass and super suspicious of everything I do.

To Nismo, you seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder, no offence! From the bitterness of your post it sounds like you've had a couple of bad experiences. I see no more super skinny/anorexic girls in Japan that I did back in England. The majority are just built daintier, thats all. Same goes for the men. Your definition of 'hot' amuses me too. A little harsh there.

She used to be hot (Mariah) but now she's all sloppy. Her *beep* are too huge and flop and wobble all over the place, her butt is huge (I like big 'uns but come on!), and she just looks a big, flabby, shambling girl.
